i never saw the movie. but i read the book :p it was one of the materials for my literature O levels :p but anyway. i dont really remember it very clearly. but i have some sort of vague idea about what it is all about.Quote:

i think, the book does portray asians accurately, to a certain extent. it all depends on what kind of asians you are talking about.
maybe i shouldnt say 'portray asians'... but rather, it does put to words accurately, several ways of life, traditions, and ways of thinking that is generally embodied by us in general.
things like filial piety, not speaking out, suffering in silence, wanting 'face', all the superstitious believes, trying to fit into the image one's parents carved out for you.... stuff like that. its all there... just in varying degrees.
