Hey Torq and delia, and everyone else that's helping,
I hope that you realize that all of us here really do love you guys and appreciate all that you're doing. I hope you get to hear that every now and then.
Should we wait to send av requests and resubmit data, know you must be busy getting everything back up, didnt want to make more work for you, and didnt see anything on site saying should wait.
Ok, if I understand the question correctly, Midnytedreams, you are inquiring as to avitars? Those are on your own. Go into User CP & add them in on your own... You can do that now. You can change anything in your User CP now that you wish to do.
Just my little lonely self, aesexual pseudonym, dropping by under an aesexual pseudonym to find out why my email account has been hammered by frantic persons of all persuasions from both sides of the pond, wondering why I've deleted all my stuff. Yikes, is all I have to say.
JJ's remarks (above) are constructive and well-meaning, but perhaps won't provide relief; extremely doubtful that this board is running on a database that has been generating scheduled replicas... more likely mySQL... not much help restoring dat files with a surface scan, if the data files themselves are corrupt... what was it that Mr. Darcy said in Pride and Prejudice? "What once is lost, is lost forever?"
Umm, yikes.
Keep in mind that the server probably isnt using a windows file system but more likely a linux/bsd one. Second with database files it is like all or nothing.. if you miss only a byte all is unusable because you cant identify where the mistake is and it can corrupt your complete database
Well I just love a new name....lol, so I appreciate the oppurtunity to have a fresh outlook.

<<is currently chatting the chat room!!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Thankies T & d and Tiger and the rest of the staff!!!!!
Yes... chat is now up. Still working on the "look" & other crap associated with it, but the basics of it are there: you can chat. LOL.
thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried getting into chat, I keep getting a "server full" message...:(
Chat folks:
The "Server Full" problem is caused by a setting. As soon as we get into the Chat Panel & fix the setting, we'll fix it & you can all get in and chat. Give us a couple of hours, ok? So for now, chat is technically up, but it has a very limited capacity... sorry!
EDIT:
Chat is running w/a 5 user capacity right now until we get the correct chat version loaded in w/the correct coding, etc. Sooo... it's just a teaser, folks LOL... don't go crazy trying to click in. ;-) We'll let you know when the right version is up. Alternatively, you compulsive clickers will let us all know first.
... and chat's up!
OK, Folks,,
Latest update,,,,
Forums is back up and re-organized and running fine,,,,, Chat is back up and running fine as well,,,,,
Stories we are still working on to "recover" the stories, they are on a different data base and just need re-organized and re-posted this WILL take TIME!!!
We are still looking into recovering the lost data BUT it IS DOUBTFUL!!!! at best,,,,
The servers main hard drive failed as well as BOTH of the daily back-up drives,,,, chances of recovery Slim to None!
THANKS to ALLLLL for your PATIENCE!!!!
And we're still the biggest and best BDSM Site on the Net
T
rock on, techno gods of BDSM, rock on.
Great news Torq. Reposting the stories Will take time. I estimate that 500 were wiped. That's going to take a month or so I'm guessing. Still, that's good news since losing them completely is a disaster. It's just time and work, not impossible! Well done!!
I hope you will have time to post new ones during the recovery of the old stories.
You can't work miracles when the backup drives go down with the main drives.
Thanks to everyone involved for their hard work, and getting chat up and running again. :)
Torq,
Sounds like your provider put everything on the same spindle... Maybe you should talk to them about that. ;)
 thanks Torq, and the rest of the Tech team, your hard work at getting the site back up so quickly is very much appreciated.
FYI, I was locked out of the site because it wouldn't recognize my password. So I tried an old password -- one that I used before the site was hacked a few months ago -- and then I could get in.
Ok who broke chat again?
agreed
I flashing back to Y2K (or to what it was supposed to be). Damn, has it really been a decade already?
A shame that the backups were lost, too. What a nightmare for you guys to try and repair. I feel for you.
everyone,
yes the site is continuing to have issues, :cae7gler:

Torq, Tiger and the rest of the tech team is working on it

Hey, steelish here...
I'm not a post 3/1 registrant, yet it does not recognize my username or password. I've tried my most recent password AND my previous one. No luck.
Are there still profiles pre 3/1 that are being retrieved?
Thanks!
Hmmm...
It appears as if it reverted WAAAAAAY back to when I was steel1sh.
I'll wait till they finish working and ask for my nic change.
*whew*
if you dont remember the old password... you can try the reset password option I think....
I have returned, in spite of the internet, and its "technology will make your life easier" false promises!
For some reason I couldn't register for the last two days, but today must be my lucky day!
Looks like my image thread and any thanks I accrued have been wiped out.
I just noticed that the "recent update" page has a bunch if "new" stuff up. I recognized some of them and also notice that most of the postings have no "Synopsis." The ones that do were started prior to march 2009. I assume that all of the stores without a "Synopsis" are repostings to recover from the server crash. I'm glad that's started and based on the speed the page is changing, the reposting will be faster than I originally thought. That's Great!
However, how will readers of the "new or recent update" postings know what's new and what's old?
Does the absence of a "Synopsis," a rare event in the past, signify old (except for the "new" chapters/parts attached to pre March stories) and the only way we can tell repost from new post?
Just in case you think it's your computer, it's not. Chat's down.
or is it just me?
No it isnt you, it is chat. It is down
Tiger, Torq and the tech team are working on it
Please hang in there
thanks moco! :)
