Server Issues, Etc

Just wanted to use my first post to send a shout out to the small nucleus of folks working so damned hard to right the ship. It's truly appreciated!

It seems that the stories posted on December 9 have been restored, the last story update. I know all of them have not been restored since one of mine is still missing. Is it possible that someone can post to the Site News when the recovery of the old stories is complete?

I know you're all tired and I'm amazed by the very fast restoration of hundreds of stories and other problems but I would appreciate a formal notice that all of the stories are back?

Please fix chat so yogi will stop crying. I'm pretty sure if she doesn't get her daily multiple injections of chat soon that she will rob a liquor store. What this has to do with getting chat fixed, I do not know, but the girl is desperate. :)

This is Mitch C. I e-mailed Torq about 36 hours ago. I know he is very busy, and I dont want to bother him. I do have what I think is a working email addy for me. It is my hotmail account. I tried to post it on here, but I keep getting a message that says I cant post urls until I have 15 posts or more. Might you be able to provide me with your email addy, so I can email you my hotmail info, and my account can be changed to that contact, so I can try logging in?

Thanks everyone who has been working on this.

A few days ago I noticed that some of my previously posted stories were missing, sent copies to "webmaster" and they are back up already! The good news is that the shocking reviews posted by a troll are now missing!

I had no idea of the scale of the problem until I found this thread.

May I suggest a brief statement in "Headlines" thread directing people here.

Sometimes i carnt get in at all:icon277:, sometimes im in will try and go to a different thread and "oops the link is broken" then i carnt get back in for an hour or 2.:madfire:

We've been encountering some up/down issues as we're tinkering w/the new server. Please just have a little patience--we're trying to get all the settings right over the last few days on the new server.

Really sorry for this everyone. I have been working around the clock on it.

I looked in on a thread I'd contributed to a couple of times ("Was Heinlein a Dom?"), and my posts had vanished. They weren't in any way controversial, so I've no reason to suppose they were removed. Has the recent server crash led to a loss of files?

IF the posts were done between 3/15/09 and 12/15/09 there gone! Otherwise send be link to thread and I'll look into!

I guess they must have fallen into that hole, I thought one was later. But the really odd thing is that the thread no longer appears on my "subscribed" list. I guess it updates by checking for my posts on file, and if there aren't any now, it's not listed, even if it used to be.

Latest server update after MANY hours of research, numberous sleepless nights Tiger and the team here have finally resolved the "issue".
As of today server has been COMPLETELY stable for days, no crashes, no issues what so ever.

For the chatters IF your getting "booted" from chat it is NOT! repeat NOT the server the problem would be on YOUR end, many reasons (see Chat Guidelines for info).

For Authors and story readers it will take TIME to re-build the THOUSANDS of stories that were effected (i.e. codes and synopsis) each one has to be re-built individually.
Additionally the story "backlog" has been caught up, IF any Authors are reading this and you submitted a story PRIOR to 1/4/2010 and it has not been posted PLEASE re-submit. IF you have recently submitted meaning AFTER 1/4/2010 those stories are stil "in process" PLEASE DO NOT re-submit those TY!!!

Two actually.

First: Remember the problems we had with the forum "displaying" wider than a single window? It's returned with a vengence. I use the standard I.E. 8 Browser, version 8.0.6001.18702 I have to scroll right to see the last two menu bar items.


Second: When I first link in to the forum, if I don't do something in the forum right away and "go" somewhere, it clicks over to some ad (that doesn't exist) and takes me to a generic search page like google suggesting alternative string searches. I literally can't stay "on site" long enough to browse down the page.

Other than a slight off center page,, Is anyone else having similiar issues???
