Chat Issues, Etc.

It seems to be working now after installing the latest Moonlight runtime, which is the open-source Linux implementation of Microsoft's Silverlight. So that's all OK, for the moment at least.

I am on a Linux system and had the same or a similar problem until just today. I believe installing the Moonlight runtime (open-source implementation of MS Silverlight) was what fixed it. Maybe chat needs Silverlight to run?

For the past two days when I click on the chat button, in either Firefox or Chrome, I'm taken to the front page and unable to reach chat. Is this a problem just for me?

So after reading through this thread I tried everything I could think of but when I try to open that chat all I get is a blank page. I'm not sure what's going on here. I've tried opening with a different browser, rebooting, I've tried on different days and times but nothing seems to work :( any ideas?

Here's my problem. I can type here fine, but in chat when I start typing it bounces me to the search mode for the internet while I'm trying to type. On a droid phone. Can you help? Do not want to seem rude to others in chat when I can not respond. Thank you.

Chat is unable to enter from 2am eastern to around 3, 330am eastern almost everyday, if you are trying to enter around this time just wait it out and try again after that hour, hour and a half is over.

Sorry T, i would have told you a long time ago if i thought you didn't know about the time going down at night and yes if you are in there before then it works just fine. It's been this way for months and months, Master and i tried to remember how long ago it was but it has been a long time since it started happening. We just know because his lunch break is at 2am and he can't get in, ever when he comes home on break but almost as soon as he leaves to go back to work i can get in.

Has something happened to the chat link? It seems to have disappeared from the bar at the top of the forums.

Sadly since the revamp nothing seems to work. It would be good to tell someone about it but it has taken me several goes to get this posted and the chat room does not seem to exist at all. Used to be a good site...pity it seems to be wrecked.

I am having the same issue. In addition, for the last few days if I did get the chat link after I sign in, it opens to a white screen and goes no further

Looking on the positive side...how much trouble can I get in if I can't get in chat... *eyes CumpleteControl's waistcoat*

No idea, I'm guessing/hoping it is just some site maintainence and upgrades

I'm sure it'll come back. It wouldn't just be taken down without a reason, at least not without us being told. The site is probably just being updated?

If you look at profile pages..you will see lots of major changes.. i suspect the update has some technical problems so they have stopped chat being entered.. it makes sense from technology stand point.

So frustrating though... now I am resorting to leaving wall messages to keep from getting bored..which could well lead to more trouble

Also on positive side... all my posts is filling up the recent activity nicely so they can see it works..see...i'm just doing my bit for the site...*giggles*

I had some problems with my profile so I had to change all the colours to make the writing visible. Haha I know jules, the newsfeed is mostly made up of you posting on other peoples' walls hehe I may have to resort to doing the same soon; I'm so lost without chat!

I am sure they are working as hard as they can to get it back up. Whatever caused it, they will work it out i am sure.

Also remember before you freak out - Torq and delia both have full time jobs outside of this site and will do the best they can with the time they have to work with.

The snotty comments about this not being a good site and being wrecked are uncalled for and not respectful at all.

If you consistantly have issues getting in chat or the site, there is a post from T with suggestions on how to fix it as it all has to do with saved information on your computer and nothing to do with the site.

This has happened before several times actually so its best to just be patient and wait for Torq/Tiger to replace the button for chat. I do miss it myself but it wont bring chat back any faster by whining about it. lol...i miss my lana and arby :(( i'll see them later....
