    What's The Best Format?

When I submit stories in .doc format the quote marks come out like black diamonds. What should I do to prevent this? Any thoughts welcomed.

I submit everything in rtf. In fact I write in wordpad. I use very basic punctuation, never use bold, italics or anything else like that. I just find it makes it easier for everyone else to read, no matter what program or platform they read it on.

I thought .rtf, too, but then I looked at my own stories (which I've uploaded as .rtf-files) and noticed that there are those black squares with the exclamation marks in them, too.
Maybe it's got something to do with the language code settings. Dunno, really. Maybe the way to go would be submitting .html-files, but I don't know whether that's possible.

To be honest I have no idea anymore. I just checked one of my stories and it was all over the fucking place. Most chapters were fine but some had the black diamonds and one chapter was all bold blue text! I write in the exact same document and same format across all my stories and I post the exact say way so...

It's the character encoding that's causing the issue. Change it from 'Unicode' to 'Western' and your stories will display correctly. The downside is you have to do it each and every time.
