    safe breath play/choking

    Hello lovely Dominants,

I was hoping some of you may have some advice for me in relation to making choking/breath play as safe as possible - is there such a thing as safe breath play?

I've heard a mixture of ideas - one was that you should squeeze from the sides as the larynx is delicate. However squeezing at the sides you'll cut off the flow from both carotid arteries - thus leading to hypoxia and brain cell death. This leads me to thinking that cutting off the airway is slightly safer as even if you can't draw breath as adults we have a small oxygen reserve in our circulating volume.

But that means squeezing form the front and your airway is just rings of cartilage, no bone and not very strong. So surely choking from the front runs the risk of damaging your airway and if your airway collapses you're in big trouble?!

    Any ideas?!

I would say just watch how much you squeeze dont do a lot it takes about 15-20 pounds of pressure to crush the windpipe so just try not to squeeze a lot

i enjoy when my husband wraps his hands around my throat; he only does this on occasion so it is all the more exciting..

i can feel that he focuses his grasp on the two arteries in my neck, just pressing and holding enough to constrict the flow and i get a little light headed sometimes.. sometimes, he uses his forearm across my neck and makes it difficult for me to use my vocal chords (moaning, etc..).. it is not so much raw pressure as a grasping.. spreading the surface area out reduces any potential for pain..

besides, if you are worried about crushing someone's windpipe, you are doing it way too hard.. you are not actually supposed to hurt the person.. it is just robbing and controlling a few moments of breath, or constricting the blood flow.. the power lies in the hands that could do all of those things, but instead are gently reminding the sub how tenuous a grasp on his/her own life he/she really has..

or that's what get's me off in that realm, anyway..

    my $0.02..

in my 22 yrs i have been lucky enough to get away with this when somone wanted it but I DO NOT condone this it is very dangerous and have learned is not worth the risk a tight collar will do the same thing when the orgasm is strong enough and will allow blood flow to return quickly and air is just restricteg not shut off.
