Being a good sub- what it means

According to Wikipedia, being submissive means yielding to the expressed will of another person. A submissive (sub) shows this characteristic by his obedience, in private or public. Many of the articles on BDSM say that obedience is the gift from the sub to his Domme.
Another way a sub shows submissiveness is to wear the name of the Domme. This could be shown on the screen name ID in the chat room, on a collar, or on the body such as a tattoo. This identity with the Domme can be a very pleasing experience for both Domme and sub.
Many subs are given tasks to perform, essays to write etc. A good sub shows their eagerness to please by performing these tasks as soon as possible and by doing an excellent job (ie:good spelling, grammar, etc).
There are times when a sub is given a very difficult task, maybe even one which he had never done before or thinks is impossible. The absolute duty of the sub is to attempt to do the task to the very best of his ability. If for some reason, he cannot complete the task with 100% satisfaction of the Domme, he must be honest and tell the total truth about it, getting advice from the Domme as to how the task could be completed satisfactorily.
All of which bring us to the main characteristic of a good sub: honesty.
Honesty means being factual and correct within the relationship. It also means fidelity. No other characteristic is more important.
To sum it all up, a good sub is obedient, eager to please, completes tasks, and is above all, honest.

i Agree with all you said dave .. but isn't there not more that makes a good sub a good sub..??

i think maybe what needs to be added is also the fact you show your Dom/me at all times how happy, proud and honoured it makes you feel to be theirs .. how honoured you are to be chosen by them and honoured that they entrust you to complete your tasks.. and in what manner you chose to serve them and complete those tasks .. And how proud and pleased you are for getting them done and pleasing your Dom/me

i think a good sub always shows their Dom/me how appreciative they are for being wanted by their Dom/me and for the time the Dom/me spends on their sub as a Dom/mes time is so precious.

Just as a sub needs to be wanted and needed... a Dom/me needs to know that they are appreciated for all they do for us and how honoured we are that they do so... They also need to know we are happy to be under them..

You also have to be honest about your like and dislikes .. it shouldn't be a chore for the Dom/me to figure out all the time.. I feel a good sub will write out their likes and dislikes and what they are willing to try or what they are not .. a good way to do this is to fill out Sir_Russell's "Hard limit questionnaire for both Doms and subs to help them find long term partners"

A good sub takes punishment even when not deemed necessary.. Will allow his or her Dom/me to do as they please with them but needs to hear or see some appreciation for what they do..and in return is very thankful and shows the Dom/me they are..

A good sub shows there desire and need for being a sub and never lets that falter..

A good sub lives to please their Dom and puts their all in when serving under their Dom without hesitation as long as it is within there boundaries.. but also allows the Dom to explore those boundaries and push your limits as you progress in a relationship.. by doing this you show the trust you have in your Dom/me which a good sub must have to be able to serve properly..

I know there is still more ways to be a good sub but theses i felt were important as well I am sure others may add more as time goes by..

Isn't a good sub simply one who is what her Dom wants her to be .

Just a thought - because whilst there may be only one dictionary definition of good - each individual will have their own interpretation.

A good sub is the one who makes her Dom happy.

In which way this is to be done depends solely on the Dom, not on other people or general rules.

As for the honesty: I appreciate that in any sort of person I am close to, not only in a sub/Dom/whatever...
