A slave's missive to her Mistress, or, "What submission means to me."
I love my Mistress. She means the world to me, even though I am engaged to another. I love my beloved life partner as well, make no mistake, and I am bonded to give to both of them all of myself. Fortunately I have a lot of me to give :)
This particular piece, however, is for Runninggrass, who has given me something very special from Her heart.
To me, submission is more than just a choice. It is more than an action, a mindset, a position, a method of play or a kink. It is all of these and none of them all at the same time -- to me, submission is the willing acquiescence to the fact that another human being is one's equal and even, at times, one's superior. It is trusting that the "Other" knows what is best for you and having enough willpower to obey His or Her commands, even when you feel that He or She is wrong, being pushy, nosy, or cruel, or you are feeling particularly lazy and unwilling to obey. It is knowing that the Other cares for you intimately and personally, even if He or She has an O/other of their own. It is believing that if your life were in Their hands, They would choose to do the "right" thing with it, and ultimately, that you would truly trust Them with that life. It is no "ifs, ands, or buts". It is giving all of yourself and then, when you feel like you have nothing left, giving Them more than you knew you had.
Submission is being a free creature, wild, spirited, and unbroken -- and handing over the reins to your freedom without a second thought. It is refusing to submit to anyone but your Chosen, and showing Them the ultimate respect by willingly following Their instructions without hesitation. It is the respect you give someone whose edicts are Law in your world, the respect you give someone whose knowledge you trust and whose wit and wisdom you see as tantamount to perfection. It is looking at an imperfect human animal and seeing a God or Goddess whose life you wish to improve through your dedicated service, and through your heartfelt declarations of humility and promises of endless gratitude for all He or She gives you.
To me, submission is a life mission. It is something that can always be improved upon, changed, and perfected. Submission is a promise to your Dom/me that you will allow yourself to be molded, shaped, and sharpened into a tool that honors Them and protects Them, something They can be proud of every day for the rest of Their life. Even if you are not with Them forever, They can hand you proudly to your next Owner or Partner with confidence that you are better for your time with Them and more elegant, refined, and humbled by your term of service, so that you will do Them honor in the hands of another.
You are a testament to your Dom/me's strengths, Her weaknesses, Her needs and wants, and Her heart and soul. You are a creation of His whims and His fantasies. As a submissive, you are no longer your own, but entirely a creature of His or Her deepest desires and darkest secrets. And as a true submissive, you long for the glory of that brilliance.
Submission is a choice, a mission, a process, a need, a fantasy, a secret....
...but above all, submission....
is true Love.
