Cutting

I was wondering on your opinions about cutting during play.
Both times when I engaged with a Dom, I stated cutting as my hard limit, as this comes with a huge amount of trust and can have very dangerous consequences. However, both times they were hugely turned on by my scars from years past when I used to struggle with self harming. In both cases they proceed to try to change my mind and adjust my set limits, as "blood is a huge turn on and they know what they are doing". With my first Master I agreed to consider it, but stated that until I give him clear permission on the day, it stays as a hard limit. With second one I refused. It was a deal breaker.

What are your experiences? Is blood play that popular? How do you go about all the safety measurements?

I personally have never had experience with it, but seeing as it is a hard limit, the other should understand that. A hard limit is a hard limit. End of story. I myself struggled with SH, and if someone saw my scars and thought it meant they could cut my flesh for their pleasure, I would honestly be offended.
