Fantasy versus reality

I have been thinking about something in stories of late. Cause since I have been getting really interested in the bdsm theme, well I read a lot (My general approach to something I find interesting ;) ) - but well since when my interest blossomed first I read practically everything i could get my hands on (and that was at least sort of decently written) - but since I have a boyfriend again (after 2 years of being single) and didn't have much time due to graduating and these things, I just feel drawn to it for a few months. And now I realize that I can't read many of the stories here anymore.

I can't read stories (and liking them, being turned on etc.) that are far more then I would consider doing (or having been done to me) in real life. Everything really painful (blood drawing whipping, needles, electro-stuff, tearing etc.) has become a total turn off for me. As are any approaches by the dominant male that have only vicious motives - cruel masters and mindless doms etc.

I tend to read only romantic, subtle, light bdsm anymore. Actually bds would suffice, since sm does not interest me anymore. Sadly most stories are too hardcore for me thus - and my stories too soft for most ;)


But how is that for you, are the things in your stories things you would consider to actually do, or is the fact that you never will the turn on?

Hmmmm Water sports/ golden showers can turn me on in a story if it's written really well also some other stuff none of which would normally even turn me on in my fantasies....

It really depends how well written it is and what the context and theme are.

There's an old saying (I think first used by Mark Twain) that goes something like "the only difference between fiction and reality is fiction has to be believable."

My personal preference as a reader is for stories that I can imagine actually happening. I can suspend disbelief a little bit more than that, but extreme scenarios don't usually do it for me, even if they're still within the realms of somebody else's reality.

As a writer, it depends a lot on my audience. If I'm simply wanting to give them quick jollies, I'm not afraid to write anything. If I know my audience has specific tastes, I can write that also, and more seriously than for the first audience. If I'm writing to just please myself, then I write stories that embellish some part of my real life or people I know in a way that the distinction between fantasy and reality blurs.

Well I never considered myself unusual, but as a multi-millionaire with a thirteen-inch cock and my own private island who runs an alien sex-slave ring and occasionally does volunteer work as a librarian in a school for catholic lesbians I can't say I run into very many stories involving fantasies that don't match the reality :D

Good question on the fact that the turnon comes in from the the fact that these things would be done in real life.I agree these stories I write allow me to explore things that in real life that I would never do.One of the wonderfull things abouting writing fiction of just about anytype is the unlimited possiblities that one can create in the realm of imagination and creativity.you want an island in your story?Fine ,put an island in there and then put what features you like on it,mountains.lagoons,volcanoes,whatever buildings you like and populate it with headhunters,a corrupt regime or whatever one needs to support the theme of the story.
