Newer first assignment, the ice breaker.

I was forced to read 'Les Miserables' for second year French when in High School.

Depressing would be the mildest of understatements.

Whilst your reading range and habits are interesting and important I think I shall steer us in a different direction.

Mayhap we should begin with an introductory ice breaker to set the newest vic...stude... apprentice at ease.

So the first seven of you to come into my clutches here’s the deal. Pick a sin any sin, well any of the seven deadly ones. For you heathens not raised by Jesuits that would be any one of the following; Lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, or pride.

Try not to be too predictable and grab lust.

Starting with the basics we will paint pictures, Do not state your sin!
In your homework note book come up with seven other words that describe your cardinal offense.

These words have definition /meanings, but they also have connotations, (still with me?)

For instance wrath would be anger as well as rage. Anger has a more thoughtful and intellectual component, rage is much more visceral. Chose your seven words and get to know them, they are the pallet you will be using next.

Now I'd hoped to engender a certain relish for key individual words.

To quote the French mime Etienne Decroux “One pearl is worth more than a necklace of potatoes.”

Failing that we’ll gather up your pickings and prepare to splatter them across the monitor.

I’d like seven sentences, one from each of those words.
I need to know the who, what, when, where, why, as well as the reaction of the sinner and the injured party.
I’d appreciate your noting the chosen word in each sentence either by color or emboldening.

Note:

These are seven independent sentences.

They need to be in alphabetical order (of the chosen word) and you should not attempt to form any chronological sequence.

You might number them for the ease of the instructor for he is old and gray and hates having to physically shuffle sentences.

Well, my first choice has been taken and my second one was advised against, so here goes.

First use those seven words in sentences, relating them to your deadly sin either through their definition or by way of connotation. Be forewarned that this assignment will become a bit more involved than Rhabbi's and you will be expanding on these sentences so write with care.

Being lazy means enjoying yourself on someone else's expense.

Being tired is something else entirely.

I’m not noncommittal because I’m lazy; I’m noncommittal because I take my duties seriously.

Modest expectations can be met with modest means.

If necessity is the mother of invention, then sloth is the mother of efficiency.

Innovation is the drive to work hard to be lazy.

Procrastinating is not going to save you any work, but if you want a quiet moment, you better take it now.

1) I collect and hoard books with all the avarice of Homer and Langley Collyer.
2) With all of Euro 2008 to be televised, my edacious appetite for the beautiful game might finally be satisfied.
3) Living in New Orleans has only encouraged my gourmand tendencies.
4) An omnivorous reader, I scrutinize cereal boxes if there is nothing else at hand.
5) I become a rapacious lesbian when my pet struggles in her bondage.
6) After a tough day at work, I feed ravenously on my girl’s submission.
7) I read voraciously and usually have seven or eight different books that I’m devouring at any given time.
