    My Pet and my pet

Last week my dear pet Downtown Amber and I were preparing a delightful night of play. For two days we sent each other wonderfully suggestive e-mails and IM’s. I had outlined in detail how she was to greet me, what she was to have prepared and her clothing (or lack thereof) choices. I had refused to see her for two day’s and we were on day four of severe cum restriction. All was set and I had my DOM ON!
I stop by my place to get some things done, check on my dog and find my dog is sick…really sick. You see in spite of my dominant persona, I’m a sucker for animals. I have a 7 year old Samoyed, fluffy white with eyes of Christmas and the permanent smile of the breed, but not this night. I loaded the dog rushed him to the nearest pet hospital and call my dear Amber who is waiting (also wearing a dog collar) letting her know that the event’s of the evening will have to be postponed. I stayed with my dog till late in the night, a case of pancreatitis. I’m happy to say that two days and $1,000.00 later my dear friend is going to be fine. However I muse at how quickly I am able turn from Dom to quivering pet lover. …So it goes.

A part of it comes from the small realization that your Pet can take care of herself. The little furry ones, they rely on us for everything. But don't feel bad, I do it too.

I think i have to agree with Cipher, it's not in any way a sign of weakness. It's a sign of responsibility. If i were in the same situation i would do the exact same thing. Being a sub doesn't mean you're a doormat and being a Dom doesn't meat you're a cold hearted what-not (well, not necessarily )

    Glad the dog's fine )

I don't think that is a sign of non-Domliness in anyway. I think it is wonderful characteristic for any Dominant to have. It is a good sign that if you care so deeply for a fur pet, then you will be caring and loving to your human one as well. I bet amber would agree. *smiles* "Peace" ~blizz~
"Do you know, ultimately," I asked, "who will prove to be your one best trainer?" "No, Master," she said. "You, yourself," I said, "the girl, herself, eager to please, imaginative and intelligent, monitoring her own performances and feelings, striving lovingly to improve and refine them. You yourself will be largely responsible for making yourself the superb slave you will become."

Sounds like both your pets are beautiful and well cared for. I'm glad that they're both fine.

There's a part of me that wants to say that "so it goes" is not appropriate there, as nobody died.

    Glad everyone's alright.

Yes, everyone is indeed healthy and happy... The dog is healthy, and I am WAY happy...

And I think caring for your possesions (whether they be things or fur pets or people pets) is a VERY Dom characteristic.

That seems to be true for D. -- he is especially protective of his books.

And J-Go, thanks for sharing that cute story! I'm glad that everyone was okay.

    Of course.

If you're not up to the responsibilities of owning a pet, how would she be able to trust you to be responsible enough to own a Pet.

Not only was there nothing wrong with your concern for your pet, I see it as a positive trait... and obviously so does Amber.

Oh yes Amber does... I do find it a little on the amusing side, however, that out of the two pets he would never even consider beating the dog... *hehehe* Poor thing!

lol Amber, all the better and more for you *wicked grin*

J-Go, this is a wonderful trait in a Dominant - I know you all like to portray the Big Bad Beast and hard as nails, but we really know what wonderful Teddy Bears you can be hehe

J-Go, don't you know that it is all DowntownAmber's fault, I really think she should be caned again(still waiting for pictures). Seriously I'm glad to hear that the dog is all right, and that you and DowntownAmber had a good time after the dog got well.

i think it all reads to the 'vanilla' section of society that a Dom is defined as uncaring, and cruel, and W/we all know better...to be Dominant over ones P/pet, is to be loving, caring and generous to a fault...as we all know *wink*

Again I see a lot of similar traits in you and you did what was right and correct. Ask yourself what kind of Dom would you be if a night a passion with amber was more important then taking care of your animal and friend.

J-Go, I had a Samoyed for 12 wonderful years. He died many years ago, but I still miss him. And I don't think for one moment that Your love and concern for Your pet made You any less of a Dom. When I first went on my "Dom search" I made sure that any Master I was interested in was as big of an animal lover as I was. And thank the Goddess my Master loves O/our pets as much as I do (and as much as He loves me).
