Suppose you had the room and a reasonable (not unlimited) budget to build a play room in your home. What would this room look like, contain etc?

I dunnos, to be honest

I've never really liked the idea of having a 'play room' myself, it's old-fashioned but I like a bedroom best, or the spontaneity of doing something in a random place or room - but I don't know that much to say properly.

There's a lot of things I would like to have though hehe, too many to list

I have such a room and today it has eye hooks in ceiling and in the walls I have brackets with O rings. My toys are there floggers, paddles, chains, rope, an exercise chair converted to bondage chair, belts, crop and more on the way.

firstly id want it as authentic as possible,so it would have to have be a proper stone dark cold room with mould mildew and water trickling down the walls, iron candle holders on the walls with wax dripping down no electric lights thankyou!
huge heavy creaking wooden doors, a huge rough stone table.
with plenty of chains, manacles, hooks etc on the walls and ceilings a metal pulley.
a torture chair,only this one would be slightly different as it would have a hole cut in the centre of the seat for positioning objects under if i was becoming too comfortable

there'd be too many toys to count! all the possible whips floggers paddles you could hope for,knives daggers swords razors, the nice clean shiny ones for play would be hidden only the rusty ancient evil looking ones would be on show of course, huge candles rope rope and more rope.

thats just the basics i could really go into detail but it would take forever lol

Oooh, good question, Grizzly, Sir! You've really got my imagination working on this one! I've never actually seen a play room or a dungeon, so I'll have to rely on what I've read about in BDSM and on my imagination. Let's see....

I know that Master would want a variety of whips, floggers, paddles, canes, etc. And add a variety of dildoes, anal plugs, vibrators, nipple clamps, etc., probably all in a toy chest. I would love to have a bondage chair and a table, a spanking horse, a Catherine wheel, a St. Andrew's cross, cages, slings....

I'm sure that I could come up with more goodies....

Beams in the ceiling with hooks in them for sure. A "toy chest" with lots of fun things to play with. Not quite sure but a Sybian sure sounds like a fun toy (although it sure wouldnt fit in the toy chest )

Those would indeed be stocks - I think a set of stocks is, strictly speaking, a construct with one piece for your head and arms and another for your legs.

hi Lord Grz mine would have a bed with straps that would pull my legs back and up so i would be exposed to my Mitress and whomever she invited to the *viewing* hehe lots of whips ,paddles,clamps .but equipment i realy dont need cause the best way to be punshed is to be told to stand ,legs apart fingers locked behind my head and to take the the pain she is about to give

Thank you all for your posts. I suppose now is a good time for mine. As I said the budget of course would not be unlimited, and therefore also I'd think some do it yourself would be almost necessary. Mine would have stone or at least faux stone floors and walls with some rough beams on the cieling, eye bolts a must, My paddles, whips, floggers and canes on display either mounted on a wall or in a nice display case, I like wrought iron shackles and cuffs so you could certainly expect to see those, a spanking bench and a bondage cross also must haves, Lighted with hopefully a nice open stone fireplace and either real or gaslight torches, if not some large wrought iron candleholders. the door would either be made of or painted to look like a heavy oak door with no window and iron hinges. A place to set the mood for the play those of us in The Lifestyle live for. Oh how did I forget someplace to store and tables to use those wonderful electric play toys as well as the waxes and other sensation play gadgets and implements. away from the pain toys I Love.

i do adore the thought of eye bolts and suspension chains, slings, an invertable table, a toy chest the size of a small compact car ..*grins* and floggers.....in all shapes, colors, textures and sizes.

this thread does require much thought and i will have to return to add to a dream playroom.

I think that, among the other things (paddles, flogs, dildoes, etc.), a cage hanging from the ceiling would be nice, or maybe a small cell.

I would also put electric toys and, here´s a wacky idea. dildoes stuck to the walls and floor.

I think do it yourself would be nearly mandatory. For all portions I was not equipped to do, I'd hire the other person ONLY on condition that I was taught why it must be done that way.

Eye bolts in the ceiling, certainly, and a ceiling that would hold strong.

Eye bolts and/or hooks in the walls, definitely, many well above head level, and a few (all eye bolts) below head level.

One wall a storage area, a "tool cage" if you will, with a combination lock on it (hey, I don't HAVE pockets in my birthday suit to have a key in). In this "cage" (although it might easily be a walk in display case, not a barred area) would hang on display all the larger tools (floggers, whips, paddles, spreaders, etc) that one would like to have.

I personally favor a dark wood, as opposed to the stone mentioned above, to achieve a "den" effect rather than a "midieval dungeon" effect, but that is a situation of "to each his own." I certainly would use stone for effect in some places.

One of my quirks is the use of common items as play items, whether as is or "adapted." Therefore my "bent over to spank/flog" table would be a converted sawhorse, or appear to be one, anyway. My chair would be a converted straight chair (should be available from a second hand shop/auctioneer for a song).

I have little interest in electrical play at this time. Being a retired electronics tech (Navy), my instincts run to keeping 'trons OUT of the body, not shoving them through it. However, I don't put that judgement on anyone else. I would have multiple electrical outlets available, however, as the heat from an incandesent bulb can be both interesting in the response it generates and focused easily.

Oh, and candles, yes, plenty of candles. With strike anywhere kitchen matches to light them (being somewhat old fashioned).

More to come when I think of it, as I think of it.

Hmmmm. Floor attachments for restraints that allow easy walking... I'll be thinking on that one, too.

By the way, a 10' high section of chain link fence attached securely to one full wall would make a wonderfully adaptive restraint anchor.....
