Slave Hunters, Slave Preys and other Chain Stories

I was searching for a thread on chain stories in this child forum but didn't find any. So I'm starting one with this post. Feel free to share your experience with chain stories. Have you read one, written one, recommend one, or have links to how to write one? What do you think of chain stories in general?

Pejanon aka Wolffie and I began to write a chain story last year. It was a very difficult thing for me to do because I didn't know what chain stories were at all and it was SO out of my comfort zone. So he patiently explained many, many times how writing a chain story works, etc. until I understood. He sent me a link to one written by Parker and Paladin.

Best of all, he wooed me and of course, I agreed to do it. It was a hot collaboration, imo, because we switch with each other.

While we were writing our respective sections, our D/s scenes were pushing limits and the resulting passion stoked the story. We didn't change the names of the main characters because they were/are us, in a sense. We are both quite proud of the project.

The follow-up chapters are finished and will submitted in the next few days, and I can say this, it is a very hot read.

Can you explain a bit about what chain stories are? I have never heard of them and am curious.

Chain stories are collaborations between two or more writers. Each one writes a section of a story and hands it to the other or next writer to add to it, and so on. Below are some hints to writing chain stories assigned to high school students.

Briefly, here are the basics, but to see examples of it, check the story links on the original post.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Set the Stage: pre-select a theme (e.g. mystery, false fable, soap opera, etc.).

2. Divide up who writes what.

3. Everyone writes Part A (the "beginning" of the story), and gives it to another person in the group (either through email or on paper).

4. Everyone or one of the participants writes Part B (the "middle" of the story), and gives it to the other party.

5. One or both writers can write Part C (the "end"), and the story is finished!

6. Illustrations are optional.

7. Hints:
* Make sure each person's name gets on the story at each turn.
* This works best if it's done in one day -- then copies are not "lost" and chains are not "broken".

It was hard to 'google.' There are lots of Chain stories on Literotica to look at for examples. I learn by reading other's work. Instructions, even simplistic ones like those above, don't really help me grasp the concept unless I see the final product.

Rabbit catches the kiss and hold on to it forever----it was a super story and I really enjoyed it ---I do not have much time to review stories but when I see a great one ----I have to take the time ----can't wait for part 2---huggs

What's the diff between a chain & round robin?

I once did a round robin at another forum with someone- we had a picture to use as inspiration.

It was quite fun to do, & people seemed to enjoy it.

The round robin you describe sounds very like doing a chain story.

Hope you get over the flu, it is misery incarnate sometimes. Have any chicken soup handy?

There is no real difference between chain story and a round robin, as far as I know. The result of a round robin is - a chain story.

I've participated in several round robins (various genres) and it is very enjoyable, hot and challenging. The rules were - there is no going back (no rewriting) and everyone MUST take a turn. The experience is great but the final result is often not too readable.

The only difference (IMO) is that in chain story edits and rewrites are allowable - the idea being to create a story that can be read (and hopefully enjoyed) by others.

It's is just a matter of terminology.


Writing with Nikita was/is a far-out, very hot experience for me.

There is at least one ongoing chain story on Library Forums right now. Very enjoyable.
