    MySpace any one?

Having just been invited to start an acount at MySpace, i wondered if there are any of you people there. If so, i would like the oportunity to add you to my list.
And also if you are member of any of the BDSM groups in there, it would be nice to know which one to join
I am so newbie at the MySpace place that i dont even know how to get a profile pic there, heeh heh.

I seem to remember hearing that MySpace is a popular place for hackers & oddballs- I may be wrong, but maybe be a little careful Ms Uther?

My youngest son (15) has a profile up and loves it. I think it's like anything on the net - go slowly and see what develops. I also read somewhere that myspace was being sued because they failed to protect minors - I wonder what the parents were doing protection wise. I've often thought about putting a profile up but I wouldn't want the boy to stumble across it.

Can you let us know how you go Ms Uther?

Hi they now have a setting where you can make your page private so only your friends can view it. It is being used now by a lot of adults to help curb spam and also their kids from being able to access it. I enjoy it and have made a lot of friends on there.

I have a myspace, but I rarely, if ever, use it.

I started out on blogger, but then switched over to livejournal and I like that much better. You can choose which posts to make public, private, or friends only.
With the first link the chain is forged. The first speech censured; the first thought forbidden; the first freedom denied...chains us all irrevocably.

You can set your blogs to public, friends only or preferred list. To be on the preferred list you have to add them to your allowed list. I have a site other than MySpace for my blogs as well though. I may check out livejournal, I have heard a lot of good about it.

I'm on livejournal quite frequently, and it's very user-friendly. So is greatestjournal.com I would suggest checking it out. The communities there are great, as well as being able to lock your posts to friends only, so there is little to no chance of flamewars erupting within your communities. Any more you want to know, just ask!

    I have a myspace account and have never had any trouble with it;

    www.myspace.com/yorkysoulwonderer

And you can set your profile so that it can only be viewed by those who are on your friends list of course you have to ok your friends list, this will stop anyone stumbling across it.

    Hope that helps

My kids 13 and 15 and all their friends have a myspace account. They seem to enjoy it

A true and loving friend wants only happiness for you even if they lose some of their own and is one who reaches for your hand and touches your heart .

Here's my resolution I'm letting go, all I need to learn is along this road and I just want to be the best that I can be, it's my resolution.

My Space, I've heard, is a good place to get entrapped but none of us should have to worry about that, should we. We like adult sites or so I would hope.

As always, im carefull with what info i share in public. Its a friend of mine that invited me. And when i looked it over, there was an incredible amount of people there, and many interesting profiles. She being an artis made her contact list rather interesting

No personal pics and no important info.
    Thanks for the warning, Tojo

There are too many hoaxes about the internet as if this is the most unsafe medium we ever had, much due to sensation seeking journalists. Personal data was at much more risk when we sent letters by traditional mail. The risk for abuse on the internet is very small. It is a network on which every dataset can be traced: abusers can be easely identified. The internet is so immense, most of what is on the internet cannot be find by anybody. Finally who could be interested in abuse of some personal pics, data or info that concerns just a small circle of people ?

My advice, be aware that everything can be traced on the internet, but don't be afraid to make use of the medium! Enjoy it.

I'm sure if this is true MsUther, but I've been told certain words can be 'Googled' so I was told to be not too revealing - kind of what Tojo and WB said. Then again, I'm a suspicious kind of woman...

I feel you on my fingertips My tongue dances behind my lips for you

I just joined this site and don't have my profile and things set up. I have a MySpace account and am very active there. It is like anything else you can set up your account to make it hard for people to bother you. You can also make your profile private where only friends may view it. I have found lots of interesting info there. I haven't joined any bdsm sites there yet.

    Myspace...

I'm not ashamed to say it. I'm on myspace primarily because I was put up to it by a friend, and now, I'm hooked. Most of my old high school and college buddies are on it, and its how we stay in touch. But its like everythign else online, you have to be careful, and inevitably, you'll get spammed with porn this or that here and there.

You can do a search by going to groups, then search groups and typing in BDSM. I have looked at a few of the groups but haven't joined any there.

Im on myspace, my nick is the same as here, same spelling. If I get a request for a friend, I do need to know who they are or I wont add them. I have encountered spam, but was able to avoid it. The thing about child protection was a concern, they have put in steps to help curb the problem, but it is mostly self governed as far as that goes. I also know its a large commercial venue for some companies, for instance the Army is on myspace, as well as is the US Air Force. There are many other large companies that are on Myspace, looking to make you their buddy.

One of the things to pay attention to, is when viewing something that look suspecious, check the web address to ensure it says at least myspace.com in it. If it doesn't its a website that is trying to get some of your personal information. I have personnly seen it.

Additionally, I have seen a few BDSM groups, but not very many active ones on myspace.

    Enjoy

That happened a couple of months ago when the servers went ballistic. It couldn't be helped. I joined Myspace in March and from March - July the amount of people on the site doubled from 40 million to over 80 million. The servers just went into overload and had to be fixed.

Yeah that was a pain at the time but the problem is fixed and other than the server hiccups, I've never had any problems at all with Myspace. I love the groups and my blog area most.
