Nipple Discharge

I am unsure if this is the right place to post. And am also unsure if this is a stupid question because I haven't really had all that much nipple play.
The other day I had been using clothespins, I noticed that there was a slight discharge from my nipples. The clothepins had not been on for more than twenty minutes, and I have only used them a couple of times before.
What bothered me was that when I did continue to check them they produced a greenish color discharge, some of it is white as well.
I am 38, maybe perimenopausal, have gone off of the pill five years ago so my period is not all that regular anymore. I do not have childeren nor do I plan on having any. I have made an appointment with my doctor, but I thought I would ask if this would be a normal thing to have happen before I go in.

I also had this happen once and I went to the dr and was told I had an infection of the mammory gland..about 10 days on an antibiotic took care of it ..she said sometimes the gland gets blocked and can cause an infection which may be totally unrelated to your use of clothespins

I had the same problem and went to my doctor and specialist about this. I would get it check out by your doctor but thought I would post this from a medical site on breasts in hopes to help you a bit.




The glands and ducts of the breasts secrete fluid all of the time even though they are not lactating. The amount is so small it is not noticeable on a daily basis but if a duct plugs up with normally sloughed skin cells, the fluid builds up and a cyst is formed.

not really much but to say it is normal and more commonly
found (40 - 50% more) in premenopausal women.

Hi- This happened to me awhile back during some clothespin play (in fact, I think I might even have started a thread about it, just like you!). I went to the gynecologist and told her what had happened (including that I was playing with clothespins- no sense in lying). She said that if it is just a drop of milky or clear discharge, it doesn't continue, and there is no pain or change in the nipples, then not to worry, as it was just the nipples doing what they're supposed to do when sqeezed and sucked on (namely, produce milk, which can happen in small amounts even when not preganant).

However, she said that if the discharge is white, opaque, colored, bloody, painful, continuous, or if there is any change in the nipple see a doctor immediately, because it could be an infection at best, or a sign of cancer at worst. Also, when you see a doc, be sure to tell him or her exactly what you were doing that caused you to notice the discharge- that info could be vital to diagnosis and treatment (as in, it might be normal for a nipple to leak a bit when squeezed for 20 minutes with 20 pounds of pressure, but abnormal for it to start leaking completely randomly).

Ladies i want to tell you all something about 6 years ago my mum had discharge from one of her nipples ,shes not into kinky shit shes now 68,she went to see a doctor and she found out it was cancer,I do not wish to scare anyone but please be very careful.Go get checked out by a Doctor.My mum is ok now she had her breast removed and has been clear for 6 years now,If anything looks differant go to the Doctor.thanks and i dont want to be a downer,Radiance

words taken seriously as I have a marker in my breast now and due to go back for follow up mammograms/ultrasounds in early December...gawd hopefully not another needle withdrawl but if it has to be done it has to be. I agree with you and everyone above and is why I said...follow through with your doctor and yes be honest about everything.
Perhaps by my shortened post it could be taken I was not serious or did not take this serious, no... do not panic but do make sure you get it checked out thouroughly and keep an eye on this.

I had a similar experience about two years ago. My doctor informed me that it was an infection and was cleared up through antibiotics. Turned out that use of talc powder and certain lotions can cause the glands to become clogged and induce the infection. Since then, I have become very careful of the products that I purchase and how they are used.

Thanks for the information, I will be going to the doctors tomorrow and am pretty sure by the feedback I have from here that it will be an infection. I would rather go to the doctors armed with a bit of knowledge about my situation than to have none at all. I was actually hesitant about telling the doctor how I came to know about this problem but I do see by the posts here that yes, I need to be honest about the whole thing.
