    Spontaneous Writing.

I am in awe of those who can write correctly. I look at witers who polish their works and have them well-presented and with punctuation 'n stuff.
Isn't it a fantastic thing to be able to communicate this way? So many styles-so many ideas. None right or wrong, just a myriad of differences.

I wanted to say that I don't ignore this part of the site. It's just that I don't have the required will or self-discipline to participate. I write down my ideas as they occur to me and seldom go back to check for mistakes...as some have done recently. My writings come as "a stream of consciousness" and are written as fast as I can type.

A big hug to all of you who write on the site anywhere-or a handshake.

I'm clueless as to why I posted this. It's probably as I have been chatting to one who can spell, punctuate and has great skills in writing and who I must say I admire. If I say who it is-she'll only get a big head.

With a grin and a loaded pen,

    Ed.

Hey you stay with what works for you,Uncle Ed.I have discovered over the years that no matter how carefully I write a story ,then edit it,run it by another for editing and the like, some reader is going to find a violation of the
rules of English Grammar.Just as there is no such thing as the perfect crime,I suppose there is possibly,no such thing as a perfectly written story.

I well recall the reader,a resident of Hong Kong ,that e-mailed me about a "torn infinitive" in one of my stories. To add insult to injury, this same student of English as possibly a third language, advised me he did not like all the Noun "madifiers" in the story.

Ed, I think it is wonderful the way you can just let your thoughts flow like they do! I know I often wish I could write that way all the time, as on the rare days I do, it feels wonderful.

As you say, it is a gift to be able to share our thoughts with others. It doesn't matter how we do it, so long as we do it!

Thanks for popping into this area of the forum too, know you are most welcome!

I have a knack for making things flow on the spot in this way, and not finding much trouble in putting it right syntactically either as it goes (even if English isn't my mother tongue, and nor have I ever studied it on university level). It's an ability I'm happy to have, but I wouldn't publish things without working them over a bit.

In fact, it's so much second nature that sometimes in an eye-to eye talk situation I can feel the need to deliberately "un-grammaticalize" things a bit, break the stream down, or it would come out a tad "talking like a book". The other way around...

Edna dear, you are generally funny. We like that! You are also generally in a hurry - so yes, there are mistakes, etc. - but we don't actually care! (just as well, really, since you don't either).

You write the way you want to write, and we'll enjoy reading it; or, of course, ripping it to shreds.
