Mkay... various ‘tools’ are used depending on how deep the cuts will be or how much blood he wants (or whichever one looks the most fun that day lol), such as (all sterilized) exacto blade, single edged razor blade, scalpel, some reaaally cool ‘fantasy’ blades, variously sized knives & daggers, and syringe & lancet (though those are just for blood).

Preparation... obviously get everything out, wash hands, and this may sound weird but he sometimes brushes his teeth first because he’s going to be licking cuts/drinking the blood. I think that's a marvellous description - you don't suck at describing things at all! I don’t use alcohol wipes for cutting because I never used them before I met him, and I think anti-bacterial soap works just fine. Plus something about using alcohol wipes before makes it feel too... “medical” and it’s just more exciting if they’re not used. As long as you’re “clean” I think it’s okay, but if you don’t want scarring I would recommend using them afterwards (especially if you want the extra stinging sensation on the cut).

Can’t really pick a preferred tool... I love them all lol. Probably something bigger than a razorblade or scalpel though, like one of the larger knives or fantasy blades, because seeing the size of the blade seems to effect how I anticipate it to feel on my skin.
