Leaving Marks

I've owned my girl for some time and although I have been rough with her in the past, I am interested in trying to leave marks after a particularly rough session. I'd like to bruise her around the thighs and hips, etc, but don't want any breaking of the skin or cause any serious damage. We both find the idea of her being marked highly erotic and are eager to try, but her safety comes first. My questions are:

start off slow and take your time, when her skin is really warmed up and red, it will mark without as much force (as much impact to underlying tissues). The only dangers I would know enough to warn about, are one: don't do anything that might cut off her circulation/ cause numbness, like have her hold a very specific position for a long time, that can cause deeper damage than just bruising and two: make sure she is not going to ignore her own internal "comfort meter" just to please you. If you have never played rough enough to leave marks in the past, she may be the type who doesn't mark easily and the level of roughness you are both wanting, could actually be unsafe. Probably not, but just make sure she knows she can stop any time, if she needs to.

Guera has offered excellent advice. It would be much easier to offer advice if you had provided more information on what you have tried in the past. I'd suggest slow incremental steps and remember that you don't need to strike harder to leave longer lasting marks. As an example, if you have beaten her ass with a paddle, try using a narrower implement, such as a long ruler. Striking with the same force, but on a narrower surface area will leave a longer lastimg bruise.

Just be aware that once you start leaving bruises, you will need to let the bruises heal completely before playing rough again. Repeated bruises on bruises cause sub-surface issues, including deadening of the nerves and thickening of the muscle tissue (they will feel like knots and bumps under the skin, and may become permanent).

Both of these effects (knots, and especially the deadened nerves) can lead to other, long term issues.

On the whole bruising might make you both feel special, but they do have health implications. Personally, I don't like marking my girl at all. A nice glow in the dark ass, that tingles for a day, and not a bruise in sight is much more satisfying for me - especially since I can do that day after day and not have to worry that I'm causing deep, long-term damage to her.

My late wife loved to see marks the day after, the only reason she minded being fat was that she was too well padded to bruise easily.

I love to see where I've been, my favourite toys all leave pretty red stripes, but I'd rather not leave long term bruises and welts: as Miner says, it limits what you can do the next day.

The easiest kind of mark is also a vanilla one- have you tried hickeys? You can leave nice, red or even purple that lasts for days and days, my sweetie loves them, reminds him I was there all day and night in case he misses me. Suck really hard for a really long time and it's completely safe.

The marks left behind on me are bite marks. The neck is our favorite spot. My Master refers to it as a "golden red" and the color usually sticks around for a couple days. Not to mention the sore, tingling feeling left behind is a constant reminder of Him. I love it. I feel bruising is a nice way to leave a reminder, however I agree that its something that needs to heal fully before spanking, biting, or caning happens again in that area.
