    BDSM vs. Abuse

I've been a Dom for a long time and have heard many horror stories from and about newbie submissives who have been mentally, emotionally and physically harmed because they didn't know the difference between a positive BDSM relationship and a relationship that is merely abusive with no benefit for the submissive whatsoever.

The following links may be of use. I recommend them highly to both submissives and Dominants:

I hope that this thread may also be of some help...it also contains links to other resources and ideas on how to get help and or deal with some issues concerning this topic.

Thanks for linking to that older thread, Denuseri. All victims of abuse, sexual or otherwise, can learn and take hope from the many honest, compassionate responses to your original post.

its not always just the subs who don't recognise it, we're naturally submissive, we just don't necessarily know how to get out of it. Its quite often the doms that use BDSM as an excuse for abuse
