Part one was really difficult for me to write for a few reasons. I often have trouble initially getting into an assigned topic. The easiest way for me to do this, is to write the story from my own point of view. For this story, it was hard to get my mindset as a "mother". I do not have children of my own, nor do i know if i ever will able to have them. This made it all the more difficult for me, initially I wanted to say, no i cannot do this assignment. Instead i forced myself (that and I hate not being able to do something) to just start writing using bits of my own past trying to think of what kind of mother i would be. I often use bits of my own life and personality without intending to, but then going back and reading it, i often go, Wow, that really is me.

The line “Sorry Kiddo, it’s the law!” came from my Mother. I swear for every year of school she told me that. While the line, "I had just triumphantly pulled a pair of pants in the right size off of the rack" is something i do pretty much every time i venture out to go shopping.

The names I used really helped me to somewhat identify with the characters. Shannon is one of my alteregos. Barry is a close friend of mine, Mina.. well.. its Mina!

In the end, I'm glad that I had the chance to write this. That being said... I'll be posting the next part in a bit. I hope y'all enjoy!
