The days of marrying someone to immigrate died in the 70s in the USA. Now, you CAN marry someone, but they still have to apply for immigrant status and you have to sponsor them as their spouse. We're basically doing the same thing here in Canada right now. I just have to take a short trip out of the country to renew my status.
The thing is, though, she was banned from the States for staying longer than she was allowed on a visitor's visa. I didn't know that they would ban someone for that, but I guess they would. I am definitely hoping Canada is less strict about these sorts of policies, as I would like to see my wife again before my child enters grade school.
Actually, I would like to see my child born. That would be a very nice experience for me.
