I liked the way you displayed Arlene's reaction. It seems very real and convincing.

But maybe I would have liked to see a shimmer of something more than disbelief and curiosity in her eyes. I understand that not everyone is born for that but that this is the way our kind of stories usually run. On the other hand it may add to the very strong "ok". It is acceptance of the needs of a friend and nothing else.

PS: I had to look up "Abuela obeyed abuelo" and it took me a while because I looked in the wrong dictionary. Is it some famous quote I didn't find or is it just grandma obeyed grandpa. If it is the later, it might be better to write it in English for those of us who are not so literate in the worlds languages.
