    Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Anyone?

Though I enjoyed Anne Rice's previous famous Interview with the Vampire, the whole series, I have never thought her capable of coming up with something as deliciously naughty as her version of Sleeping Beauty - a trilogy that begins with the Prince finding Sleeping Beauty in the dead castle, then proceeds to wake her up by plunging into her, taking her virginity. The rest of the first book is devoted to Sleeping Beauty's training as a submissive to the Prince's kingdom, a kingdom thats is a medieval BDSM entertainment center, like the charade in The Story of O...my hand never strayed far from between my legs as I read, and Anne Rice's writing is, like her other books, enchanting and absorbing. Anyone's read it?

however, ever since i discovered L.K.Hamilton - be it vampires or sex - i will not think of Ane any more - Laurel rules!

    Humor versus OMG

I love both sets but can't get that sappy movie version of Exit to Eden out of my head.

Have you gotten the chance to read the complete trilogy, it is wonderfull. I read them years ago was about 16 or 17 and I think that they are one of the few books that woul read over. I will say that I was not that impressed with the Story of O. I thought that it was lacking something.

    Yes at least 5 times

I read that series soooooooo many times....i love it. The story of O is as good in another way because it's more about the individual sub's personal journey that it is about a group....although Sleeping Beauty is about an individual's beauty at the same time you get so caught up in other characters that you lose focus on Beauty.
On the other hand, the story of O is so "O" focused that the entire book all you think about in terms of a sub's journey IS her. So in that way it's a much better book. Again, it all depends on what you are looking for and looking to learn when you read them. If you want to try to understand the overal life of Dom and Sub in a general way and show every torture and punishment known to man and woman, read Beauty. If you want to understand the journey from beginning to end of a sub's life with all the fears, pathos, angers, rage and finally, ultimate submission, read "O".
