I have looked at handmade suede floggers and leather whips. As they are quite expensive I want to know what effect they have before I invest. Here are some questions:

1- do floggers really cause pain or a discomfort?
2- which are easiest to start with? (which is controlled best?)
    3- Are they all legal?
4- do the lengths differ only in control or is bigger better?
5- how are they rated from most pain to least pain?

I would like some subs opinions on this issue. Until then...it's off with the belt!!
I have never had a whip used on me. My Master and I made the flogger that we are useing now with the rope that You can make a laundry line out of, and it is nice. the pain that I get from it will depend on how he is working it and how hard and fast he is coming at me with it. We hope to get a leather one next month but for now I'm enjoying it.

The other thing that he uses is a riding crop and Yes the slapping sound and the sting afterwards is nice. But I'm told that I'm a pain slut in the making. giggles

    1. Floggers come in may different sizes and textures. Different materials give different feelings to the slave when they are used. Currently I have roughly 7 different floggers that offer a different feel when used. I have a medium flogger that has 16 - 1/2" wide strands that is light weight and easy to use. I use it as a warm up when I intend on using a heavier flogger or cat. The heavy floggers are a little harder to control but can create a nice thump when used. My largest has 40 strands at 1/4" x 1/4" by 24" long. Believe me when it comes down, your submissive/slave will feel it. Along with that one is a matching flogger that has 9 strands. This one I use for the pussy and breasts.

If I was you I would start off with a medium like the one I have. When I first started using them, I practiced hitting a spot on the wall to make sure I could control it. You can vary the feel by using as little or as much force as you would like. After 15 years, I can pretty much cause whatever reactions I am looking for.

As for being expensive, try looking on eBay.

    2. The easiest to use to start with would probably be the crop, paddle and strap. From there I would say a flogger is fairly easy to use once you get the hang of it. One the far end of the scale would be single tails. Before using one, I would recommend finding a trainer or practicing a whole lot. Single tails can be dangerous without the proper use.

    3. Yes, they are legal to own.

    4. As for length, the longer ones are deffinately harder to control. They cover a much larger area when used and can wrap around when you miss. I enjoy my medium flogger probably the best. It is very easy to control, light weight and I can put it where ever I want to cause a little sting to. It can be used on anywhere on the body without getting to intense, which you can control by the force of your swing. You can also very the intensity by how much of the stands contact the skin. If just the tips hit, it stings a lot more then if you use most of the stands length.

    5. Hopefully I have answered this throughout the post. Like I said, different material, size, length and number of strands all work in to how the flogger will feel to your sub/slave.

I purchased most of mine from here: http://www.leathercellar.com/main.html

They weren't cheap but their quality is awesome and I would recommend them to anyone looking. If you looking for something to try, try the auctions on ebay.

Good answers here... one other thing: flogging technique also depends on repetition. For example, the horse-hair flogger feels soft to the touch. If you swing it hard once it will still not really sting at all, but after 50 or so swats, the skin gets slowly irritated and warmed up. This is a unique feeling--very different from other toys. Also, if you then get hit with something else, the "warmed up" skin reacts very differently indeed! I have read that the horse hairs actually produce microscopic cuts in the outer layer of skin which is what gives this effect.

I have found that longer sessions with more repetitions can make receiving a flogging a very different experience--even with a leather or suede flogger. If the person wielding it modulates both intensity and interval the whole scene can be like a journey inside your feelings.

Not sure if that last sentence really said what I was thinking but I'm really tired today.

Well I guess I went a bit nuts once on Ebay and then later, through Ms. Brenda's site (http://www.leathercellar.com/main.html
), cuz currently I have over 35 floggers. Lots of different materials, sizes, textures and, of course, intensity of reactions. I have some my submissive absolutely hates- well until she is watrmed up and so getting into it.
I have a few I use alot, some I use little. The nice thing about floggers- versus single tails- I find that I can't really harm someone unintentionally. Also, the ones from Ms. Brenda are made in such a way, that before I would be really causing real damage to a sub, I get tired. Also, though the single-tails do make an awesome cracking sound, the floggers allow you all types of delivery style and flair.

You can get some nice starter floggers for under $100. Others ar emore for experienced users, larger, different materials, and can go up to $250. Ms. Brenda's site tells you which ar enot for beginners. (When you go to the site, check out the large Rose Flogger- I always get alot of comments when I have that one out).

I actually warm-up my submissive with a cane (using a technique called tattoo caning). It is short swings like a drumming style on the area over and over, with canes of different thickness. When she begins to moan, then I go to the various floggers. Over a 30-45 minute session I might use 8-10 floggers. Some I use only a few times- especially the ones that can really sting to cut- others I use for many hits.

I remember one session we had at a conference in St. Louis- she was very hot, so I went to my softest leather flogger- one that no matter how hard you hit with- can't really do any damage. But, the cool thing about a flogger, it sounds like you are really beating the heck out of the sub. I wailed on her for 20 hits, really getting into the delivery- almost lunging forward and winding up over and over. It looked very intense- but actually wasn't. More for show than anything else.

The thing I love about floggers is that one flogger can deliver a variety of sensations, just by the way you apply it and deliver each blow. I have one flogger that is a variety of materials- from soft bunny fur on the end to braided leather knots behind it and I can give the sub a lot of different sensations with just that one flogger. Others, like the one we call the licorice whip could easily cut and bruise deep. I use that after she is very hot, and then only a glancing, barely touching blow. She really reacts to that. Another one we nick-named the bee stinger. If you saw and felt it you would know why (though I think it is more an equivalent of a bunch of nettles). We use that one sparingly- but I use it almost everytime we ar edoing a session (don't want her to get too complacent)

Well I could go on and on- but better to stop and if anyone wishes more info, please feel free to either post a reply or email me through here.

    Happy Flogging!!
