i voted for the 'it depends' option. Sometimes i want something detailed and with a lot of character development and at other times i have to admit that i prefer something a bit more base and gritty. Perhaps the main difference for me is how much time i have; the notion being that the less detailed more urgent ones tend to be shorter. i suppose it's like any reading material though, sometimes i like epic novels which take a long time to read and in which you get fully involved and sometimes i like something which doesn't take long to read. i don't like them so long and detailed that it starts to become a bit pretentious and removes itself from a BDSM theme altogether.
