Shadow and the Sun
There she lay on the bed of leaves
As thru' the leaves as the sun's ray seives
I see her rise, and then shy away
Hide unto herself, away from her lover's glare
Until at noon, the searching sun
Yearns for his mate, i see him burn
Then, as he rides his chariot to the west
She comes out, reaches out to her best
She knows it is late, as it always has been
As dusk falls, so does the pallor green
The shadow, now at full length, cries
She has no alibi, she has no lies
The frantic sun, now tired, returns
Yet again he fails to meet his beloved one
Far away the melancholy strain
A mellowed voice, a familiar refrain
Among the trees, in the darkness of the night
She waits, as always, for the sunlight
For the sun, yet again, a whole night of grief
For the shadow, yet again...the bed of leaves...
