Fred arrived and Mom and I parted company with plans to meet in the gym after lunch. Fred is such a sweet little guy and chats animatedly as he walks me to the gymnasium. It is obvious how proud Fred is to be working here by the way he points out everything and the pride I can hear in his voice when he speaks of Chuck, Mom, Grace, Tom and the rest of the staff. He was in the midst of telling me how it is a big family here when we arrive at the gym.

It is with great relish that he pushes open the double doors and reveals the workout space. It is packed with equipment; free weights, weight machines, cardio machines, several handball/racquetball courts, a sauna, a pool, a boxing ring, a punching bag, etc. Fred giggles at my wide eyes as he shows me around. I see several of the staff here working out and they wave to us as Fred gives me the tour. Tom is spotting for the huge man that I walked past when I arrived my first day. "That's Lance" Fred says with a smile and a wave to the human mountain. Lance was doing squats with what looked like a barbell that was so full of weight that it appeared as if there was barely room for his wide shoulders to fit in between the weight plates. I could see the bar bend as he lifted it.

I smiled to myself as Fred and I exited the gym. I still think I would have felt safer with Mom protecting me than Lance. I giggled out loud and Fred looked up at me inquiringly. "Oh, I was just thinking how funny it is that Mom gives me such a great sense of security and I see Lance and don't feel that same feeling" Fred nodded. "I know what you mean. Lance is a big guy and looks strong, which he is - but Mom knows exactly what to do in any given situation." Fred smiled at me, "Lance handles things, he's the head bouncer - but Mom is the head of security and if something happens that Lance can't handle by himself you should see people's faces when Mom steps in and kicks ass!" We both laugh together as we make our way to the dining hall for lunch.
