so weird- I had wrote more than the burning man link and it shows in my statistics page, but not here.

Anyway.. thanks for your awesome link, Louise! And Logic, it was an AMAZING place to visit.

Thorne- being that I was a virgin, I'll do my best to describe the event.
For some, it is an opportunity for pure self expression.
For some, it is an opportunity to showcase their artistic vision that is too vast to display anywhere besides an empty desert.
For some, it is an opportunity to live within a society that is different than our modern world- ie. there is nothing for sale, except ice, water and coffee and basically at one place. It is a gift/barter society and an opportunity to be self sustaining within the confines of desert life, your neighbors generosity, and your own overall preparedness or lack there of.
For some, it is an opportunity to party for 7 days.
For some, it is an opportunity to exchange ideas.
For some, it is an opportunity to explore what they never knew about. For instance, there are many bdsm theme camps, interactive art installations, and other various theme driven camps from making beads to yoga to the art of cunnilingus.
For some, it is an opportunity to set their souls and past free.
For some, it is an opportunity to do all of the above.
For me, it was an inspiring, freeing, and soul touching experience that I can barely wait to partake in again. A big combination of all the above.
    And
For some, it is an opportunity they would never want to partake in.

It is an art explosion like I've never seen. I saw some of the most beautiful works of art I've ever laid eyes on. It was also full of techno dance clubs which surprised me. There are bars to visit during the day and night. A topless bike ride of 7,000 women, just because you can. Generosity and kindness amongst neighbors that should be part of our everyday society. Art and ideas that blew my mind.

Yes, I can't wait to go back.

I hope that explains some of it Thorne. Please feel free to ask more questions if I haven't explained it well. Oddly enough, it isn't really a hippie-esque type environment, which truth be told- that's what I thought. It is quite a diverse group of folks, of all ages and sub-cultures, that attended.
