I agree, use rope.

Cable/zip ties can only be cut off... and if you are endowed and swell the plastic ties could become nie on impossible to cut without 1) aid and 2) without cutting into your own flesh.

With some cordage (small diameter rope) you can wind it pretty tight and tuck the loose end under the windings, no knots and easy to remove quickly when you need to.
