The visit to Jeri's family was quite heartbreaking. Chuck was very tactfull dealing with their questions and tears. By the time we left, they were all thanking Chuck for turning around Jeri's life. (She had at one time, been in and out of prison due to her temper and a couple of knife fights. Chuck had given her a second chance and Mom had taught her how to channel her energies into her career in security) Chuck surprised Jeri's family by informing them he was starting a scholarship program in her honor. There were tears and hugs all around as Chuck and I left their home.
The drive back was spent in contemplative silence. Each of us remembering our own time with Jeri. Mine was brief but I still loved her nonetheless. Chuck had many memories bouncing around in his head and I felt for him.
Upon arrival back at the club, Chuck hurried off to talk to Mom and I went in search of Grace and Tom to help them re-schedule all the group events for at least a month out.
