I will also tend to enjoy the stories labeled as NC as oposed to a tale labeled "Romance" or "Consensual".

Another factor is the NC or Modification coding. I don't think I will ever have those NC or Modification fantasies in my life. I don't read erotica to find what i already have/have had. I read it for what I don't/won't have. And I think that is the main factor in what I enjoy.
It's nice to hear from a man on this. I agree with H Dean on tastes in the coding. If a story starts with NC it much more fun for me. I personally do tend to like for it to lean toward consensual by the last page, but that is the romantic in me.
