2. He was tired. The traffic and rain had made for a hard motorcycle ride to the store. Shaking his head, he reached to open the door he had purposely left slightly ajar, only to stop suddenly when he realized it was now closed. He reached under his leather jacket for the pistol behind his right hip. "It's probably nothing" he thought. "Just a neighbor being helpful...and I'm Santa Claus." Taking a deep breath, he opened the door, grateful he had taken the time to replace and oil the hinges. As the door swung silently open, he stepped into the well lit room - the room he had exited after turning out the lights when he left less than an hour ago. Clearing the room in seconds, he turned his attention to the closet. The Sig was almost out of the holster when the scent hit him. That perfume, he recognized the perfume. It was...hers. Shade's. The thought "After all this time?" was followed by "What is she doing back?" Warring emotions fought in his head and chest: Annoyance that she would sneak into his room as though she had been invited after leaving battled with the hope that she was back to stay. He was shaking so much he stumbled, knocking his umbrella over from where it stood leaning against the door facing. "So much for stealth" he thought, before taking a deep breath to control himself. Suddenly, he grinned, evilly. Dialing up his "command" voice he announced "Step out of the closet slowly, hands where I can see them! If you do anything else, I'll kill you!"
