Limitations

So something occurred to me. If you had a limit on something, scat, water sports, etc. but your sub wanted to try it or do it. would you push past your own limits and likes for them? I know that I would, if most likely on the condition of "only once" but still. would you move past it for them?

If I had something as a soft limit, it would depend on what the activity was and why I had it as a limit. If my partner could present a well reasoned explanation as to why they wanted said activity I would consider pushing past my own self imposed limit to satisfy their desire.

If I had something as a hard limit, no amount of begging or reasoning could make me break it.

It would completely depend on why it's a limit for me. If it's something I don't know how to do, I'd find someone who does know how to do it so he could experience it. I'd attend demos or find a mentor to learn how to do it if it's something he really likes and not unduly complicated. If, however, it's a hard limit because it seriously squicks me out, the answer would be "not no, but hell no!"

Master didn't want to post, but when I asked him, he stated that he would indeed endeavor to challenge his own limit and explore with me why it was a limit and if it should remain so if I so desired. In his view, all limits have the ability to be challenged, if even only once. I, however, have no real desire to explore any of his hard limits...

If she wanted something I would strive to make it happen, but if I did not enjoy it I would be certain to talk to her about it afterward and let her know, and we would then decide how to proceed. If I did end up enjoying it (and she did too) then we would have yet another item in the toolbox, so to speak, to use again in future sessions.
