Hi

I keep a online bdsm journal/blog,I write about my own experiences plus copy & paste then comment on other spanking/bdsm articles etc I find on the net.

Does any one else keep a blog/journal?

Not I, I've never been the type to keep a diary or journal, and though I've been a technologist all my adult life, I don't find the new technology any more enabling.

Now put me on an active forum... I love that/this.

i have in the past but not recently. unfortunately for me, when msn announced they would be moving all adult groups, i deleted mine and lost all the stuff i had previously posted. one day i will do it again - in a different forum than a stupid msn group!

The thought has struck my mind on more than one occasion. The reason why I don't do it is because 1) it will take too much of my time and 2) I think my life is way too boring to be of interest of anyone. You really need an extraordinary life in order for anybody to care. And not only that. You also need to be great at formulating thoughts about it. 3) I also would need to make something off it. Not necesarily money directly, But there must be some gain for me.

The only real losers in the world are the ones who never try, so good luck to anybody who does.

edit: I read a report today saying that the number of blogs in 2007 compared to 2006 is 100 million less. Too me that's a mind-bogling number. I have a feeling people write more blogs than there's people reading them.

I started one recently to archive my stories. In times past I have maintained a diary blog but, in the words of Mae West, "Good girls keep diaries; bad girls don't have the time." hehe

i think Blogs aren't so much for reading as they are for self contemplation.. some would rather type it than write it.

The time spent in puttin it down on whatever media is contemplation of it.

I keep a journal when i am going through a period of change or challenge, but it is strictly for my eyes only. Sometimes it helps clarify my thoughts, sometimes it helps to see the path I have been along, and sometimes it is just interesting. But I would never share them with anyone, without exception.

I think you've got the right idea cariad... and will add that a blog or journal for public consumption is appropriate for tracking a special event such as a journey.

I have a blog that I use for two purposes, the first being exactly what what cariad does. I am quite introspective, and seeing how I change has always been interesting to me.

The second way I have been using my blog is as a reference to programming and mathematics. Since I spend all day in math and programming classes, a lot of little interesting ideas will pop into my head. Thus I have lots of psuedo code in there so far. I am also entering the creative and unique pieces of code that I write for class so that I might be able to look back and see how my programming has developed. For example (and because I want to show off I guess):

In regards to BDSM, what if the Dom had the sub writing about their daily events and activities to encourage reflection on the relationship? Probably more helpful if the sub was just learning about the lifestyle, but they would have all those memories to look back at fondly.

Breathes deeply as I prepare to answer in public, what I have been asked twice in private; why do I not share my journals with the man I choose to obey.

My journals are a tool for me, a way of exploring my thoughts and reactions. A way of challenging myself and most importantly bringing me face to face with my own raw thoughts. They are to help me come to a more honest understanding of me.

If I knew that they were going to be read by anyone else, however close that relationship is, then that would be bound to have an impact, although maybe only subconsciously, on what I included, and how I presented it. It can be hard enough being completely 100% open and honest with myself, let alone someone else. Quite simply the purpose of the journal, for me would be diminished.

That does not mean that I do not share myself with him, I just do it in a different way. By times of very open conversations for larger issues and coded emails (his secretary has access to them) for more intimate messages during the day and when he is away.

In preparation for trying to explain this, I asked him over breakfast if by not sharing my journals with him he felt excluded. He made a sort of negative grunt, which I promptly looked up in my male:female dictionary and translated to 'what are you whittering on about now, I hope this is not something which is about to explode and give me trouble as I am mentally stepping into the day ahead', so I left it there.

This is a good topic. I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to ensure that one's blog remains anonymous? I would like to start such a blog, but I'm quite worried that a prospective employer or a family member might somehow find it.

cariad, no need to be worried. Just because you're a sub doesn't mean you don't have the same right to privacy as anyone else.

Duktig Flicka, if you register with livejournal then you everytime you post a journal, at the bottom is your privacy option. Public, Friends, and Private gives you varying levels of control over who you let see what. You have to add someone to your friends list though for that person to be able to see what you post. This will prevent you from having to worry about family and friends and employers finding the information in a generic google search. Should someone really want the information though, I am sure they could get it. Easiest way being if the setup a key logger on your computer and thus had your password and logged in but that approaches a bit of paranoia.
