this is the poem i use as my signature here. it seems an appropriate choice for my first post to this thread:

threshold

tempted from her leafy haven
of willow
of mallow
of slim white birch
the dryad emerges

held by knowing eyes
entangled in soft words
sweetly bound
she waits
trembling
beneath the weight
of too much sky

those last lines are my attempt to express that sense of being completely exposed, utterly vulnerable. it's that moment when i realize i've allowed myself to be drawn well beyond my previous limits, but don't yet know what the consequences will be...
