not to sound crude or unappreciative of the site, but aside from rabbit, we do have a site owner and webmaster(i believe and i believe they are one of the same) maybe they could update the stories

Yes, the story section is managed only by Rabbit1. The site is owned by Tiger who has a do list which is already too long.

Patience is the price we have to pay for having a free site.

In the meantime, perhaps all the frustrated readers could start writing considered reviews of some of the thousands of stories which are there. Yes the authors write because they enjoy doing so, but so often they say how discouraging it is to have no, or little feedback, regardless of the hit rates.

On a side note, I'm just glad it's some r/l issue that Tiger has to deal with, I was just concern for a short time while scrolling down the board that he was injured or something worse.

I was in touch with one of the moderators about a week ago on this subject and came away with the feeling that no one knows for sure when the Rabbit is returning, or why he isn't here. You talk about your single point failure, this is classic! Can you imagine trying to deal with two weeks or more worth of postings, from authors who naively believed there was someone there to take care of this little detail.

In a perfect world Rabbit would be here 24/7 to take care of everything, including the story updates...but the fact is, this isn't a perfect world. And real life has been known to intrude every now and then. This is a free site, and Rabbit1 is not getting paid for all of the work he does here. He volunteers...just like the rest of the staff. As much as we all love this site and want to be here to help take care of it, we all have jobs, families, etc...that need our attention as well.

No, I do not know where Rabbit1 is or how long he will be gone, but I know he will take care of things when he gets back. And I also know there has to be a pretty damn good reason why he hasn't been able to be here. I don't know about you, but at this point I am just hoping that it is not something unfortunate or painful in his r/l that he is having to deal with right now. I hope he is well and that we will see him again soon.

Yes, it is a pain in the ass that the stories aren't getting updated, but it's not the end of the world. I understand the frustration on your end, but there is also frustration on this end because the staff is trying their hardest here.

I feel like a broken record here, but if everyone could just please be patient, things will sort out soon enough.

I don't think it's the most unreasonable comment in the world to casually enquire whether the duties of story uploading can be shared by Rabbit and other volunteers.

No one is even beginning to question Rabbit's commitment to his task here, but equally no one seems interested in doing anything about it, when clearly a lot of people care.

Is it really a hard task for the site owner to take one of his existing trusted helpers and give them this role, especially since no-one knows when (if, even) Rabbit will return.

People are only suggesting taking the easiest path here and maybe the easiest path is getting a deputy for Rabbit as the level of concern grows.

Rabbit is coming back, I think that your suggestion for a cover while he is away is one we will take up so we can find a way to avoid the gap in new stories. No one meant any offence, they were simply trying to explain why there was no new stories being uploaded.

Do you have a submission you want to have uploaded? Perhaps while you are waiting would you like to submit it to the story forum? I would be fine if you want to post it in the contest forum or where ever in the writers block you feel it would fit.

Yes Rabbit is taken some time off, but honestly its really none of our business as to why. If he wanted us to know, im sure he would have posted it. Just all of you just be patient, and maybe have a thought or two to hope and/or pray that he is ok, and this leave is not because of anything tragic that has happened in his life.

i agree, it is very difficult to complain when the service you are getting ,the stories are free to read
In the real world, things do suddenly happen, nobody plans for a personal emergency or personal issues to arise, when they do they need to be able to address family issues immediately or personal issues the same way, most people I know say family comes first

Tiger, who, despite being overwhelmed with other things, is going to try to publish some of the stories as soon as he can. He said it is a while since he has done this - so please wish him well!

He also apologises for not having the time to respond individually to each member who has written to him about this matter.

If I remember correctly, the programming used to publish the stories is a real PITA to use, and that is why only one person was assigned the task, I also know there was some talk about upgrading it, not sure if that ever happened.

According to what Rabbit told me once the software is so screwed up that it wouldn't be worth the time or money to even try. To Tiger's credit, at least he took the trouble to discuss the matter with some experts, and came to a similar conclusion.

Yeah, the wonky setup for submitting stories and updates is probably a good indicator of how messed up the site management functions must be.
