Codes For Poetry

Ok Everyone,

We are having a hard time in getting enough interest for having codes for poetry on the main story page. SO, I am looking to generate enough interest for these votes.

I love poetry. I love it more than writing stories. I want to be able to share my written work with others and I am hoping other authors and reader will want the same.

Other than Silke's vote I am hoping to get positive votes.

Ladies,
I've usually had difficulty getting involved in understanding poetry. Recently, I'll spent more itme in these threads than anywhere else, probably because Asia's thread has gone tbh. This is an excellent idea. Who would have thought I'd come to this site and learn about poetry!

Nahh poetry sucks pah! Emotional, nonsensical dribble written by people lost in a fantasy world full of angst and fluffy bunnies. No resemblance intended Rabbit. lol.

Yeah I'm sure all 17 000 of them swung by the thread and just didn't vote. In fact I'm pretty sure all 17 000 of them visit here all the time. The thousands upon thousands that have never made a single post because they only created an account to use the chatroom, for example.

Throwing that 17 000 number around is just silly, I'm sorry. It in no way makes any effort to reflect the genuine active membership.

I'd also like to point out, asking us (the poetry group) to prove the writing is popular *before it is published* is a totally absurd hoop that no other form of writing on the site would ever be asked to jump through. By that same standard any story that gets enough bad reviews should be removed due to being unpopular with the masses.

Also, the idea that writing, in terms of it's worth to be posted, should be judged solely on it's popularity (which seems to be the only factor that concerns you), is not one I'm particulalry pleased with.

Quite frankly you're going out of your way to make this unecessarily difficult, and with very litttle (if any) valid reasoning. If people don't want to read the poetry then DON'T READ IT. All we're asking for is to give people the opportunity to make that choice.

Obvioulsy not all of the poetry posted on the forums applies to the main BDSM library. Some of the nonerotic stuff is obviousloy out of place. But there's no reason to deny entry to the BDSM-based material. Nobody's going to tell me with a straight face that "Wolf" doesn't have as much a place in that library as anything else.

Tell you what. Since this is a library question, ask it to the library itself. You put a poll on the BDSM library page itself. Code for that sort of thing is very simple and easy to find. Simple question: "Would you like to see BDSM-based poetry as part of the library?" Yes or no answers. If we lose that vote, it's the last you'll ever hear of it from me.

I understand. And you are right.
I`m sorry to say that i have never read much poetry. A text and a piece here and there, yes. But never really read it.
This place has become my best source for poetic texts, erotic ones or non erotic. And i would really appreciate the genre getting its own place in the library. It will be much more available for everyone to find and enjoy.

I want the people contributing to this site with poetry to get their own thread in the story page. And i want me as a reader to have more and easier accsess to these postings.

Friend I suggest you calm down ---the site is Bdsm Stories---that is what the site is about ---I was willing to give it a shot if enough intrest was shown it is not just poems codes if you look at other requested code additions my answer is the same ---if enough intrest in it is raised I will do it ---it is a bloody pain in the ass with this software to change things ---so I will not do it for a handfull of people----now I did not ask for a majoritory of the 17000 members to do this but I think with all the viewes in this section ---100 is not to many to ask for----

Thankfully not as with our genuine active membership (meaning people who bother to post something on any regular basis) on the boards ranging from around 150-250 that would have been even more absurd.

Considering there aren't according to your own forum's counter 100 diffrent people reading this thread or the poetry subforum (or indeed, 100 different people reading most of the threads here in general, as obvioulsy many of the hits on long threads are repeat viewers), I'd like to see how you work out the math on that.

Judging from your forums own counters, most threads (even the most popular ones on this forum) are being viewed by somewhere between 45-60 different people, tops. With on top of that a sprinkling of the "casual forumers".

You also totally ignored my suggestion of placing a poll (the code for which can be found for free in one google search) on the main story page, and asking a much broader spectrum of your readership what they think. Which, to this point, is the only valid suggestion for gauging interest I have seen offered.

And you've yet to provide a valid alternative method of showing me how we are supposed to drum up/properly judge interest without the work being seen by the vast majority of your viewership. I offered you a simple and effective one, which you've totally refused to even acknowedge.

It would be nice to see the art of poetry given equal weight with the art of story writing.

If we don't get enough votes in that amount of time then I feel my want of having all of our poetry in the main page as a code will fail....Really, I have a passion for this to work. This poll has only been up for three days....we have 27 more days to go. So let's stop bickering and go promote poetry.....anyone have room in their signatures? I know I do........

I am not being cynical ---I am just telling you that it is a hell of a lot of work to set up and I treat this the same as I did any other code request no different ---if there is not enough intrest then I am not going to waste my time doing it ---that is pretty simple ---if 100 people do not view or vote yes that tells there is not much intrest

Poetry is very important --I am not trying to belittle it ---That is why it has its own seperate forum ---instead of the thread it started out in.

but I do not know if it is worth the time and effort to put on the main story page ----like I said my mind can be changed I am willing if there is enough intrest shown ---I am the one who has to put in the time and effort to make the changes ---and every mod here will tell you ---there is no changes untill it is decussed by all mods ---all forseeable problems worked out ----then and only then is a change made

on the front page it is kind of different ---the changes are not as easily made ---I have had many suggestions for code additions ---and have done very few because of the same reason ---only a few people seemed to want it ----the front page is basicly a story page ----if enough people show an intrest then there will be a change ---I think that is fair ----you want change get out there and get your friends to vote ----other wise you still have a seperate forum to post poetry in.

Don't know why that is so hard to understand --except there are always people who think they know better ---but have no idea of the work involved --I could have just said no way ---it is strictly for stories ---but I am willing to let the members speak for what they want ----but it is a majoritory of the members not the few---I can not be any fairer than that ---no one on the story page asked for a poetry section ---the members of the forum did ---so the members of the forum will have to show support for it

and as of this minute there were 167 view of this thread well more than enought if they were interested --to make it happen

Wow I had no idea that the first post i made about this would even generate this much interest. I completely understand why you want to see more support of the idea so I hope that everyone who wanders in at least takes the time to vote.

I do wish to point out however that 167 views does not mean from 167 different members. It only means views.

I wanted to make sure you all know that I do appreciate Rabbit's efforts here. I do underderstand his want to wait for the interest be there before putting in the codes. If he wants proof of the interest, I am willing to go out there and show that there is interest. I'm not doing this to divide the Library, far from it...but to bring us together as a community and get our work read. I agree with d2p....poetry section would enhance this site. So lets just settle down and get the votes. I'm not being hostile, but being passionate about all the work that my fellow writers put into their writings. So, let's not go overboard and just get votes....
