    Halloween whip

    Hello everyone.

Now, I'm not the most experienced Dom and on top of that I'm a poor college student. My g/f and I went to a Savers store the other day and they had a bunch of Halloween stuff on sale. She pointed out a section that sold toy crops and whips. I could tell that the crops were crap: they had tiny handles for how long they were and were very clumsy. The whips on the other hand were pretty interesting: short small handle with about 6-8 thin fake leather tails. The whole thing was black and pretty cool looking although you could tell it was a toy. But at $2.50 you couldn't beat it so I bought it and we had some fun with it that same night. It doesn't hurt unless you really try to smack someone, and tickles quite a bit when you just run it accross the skin. My g/f loved it and I'll definitely be using it again.

My question is this: this is obviously a cheap, cheap made, not real leather whip, but it provides the fun that we both crave. Is it worth investing into a real whip or should we just stick to this thing for now? Is there a whole lot of difference? What is a real whip supposed to feel like?

    Thanks everyone in advance.

Quality is something that is always worth the money. To me its always a question if the wallet can support what I want to buy.

A few places that won't be quite so much money that you can get some good toys is a tack shop (place where they sell stuff for horses). You can also go to a good farm supply store for a good selection of whips and such. For floggers I found that simply making my own was more than sufficent, that way I could have the type of leather, and thickness of tails I desire. They are not fancy looking, but she doesnt care about what they look like when I am flogging her bottom.

Depending if your in the usa or not, I could recommend some stores.

If she is happy with what you have and being a limited budget why worry about. Then the time comes and she needed something more substanial, then look into getting a more expensive "toy" but until then be happy with what you have.

BDSM on a budget... I can relate... If you look up this thread there are some ideas I posted before..
    http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5469

Here is the thing... If this was strictly a rich person game, then what a small community this would be. The larger world cant go out and spend thousands to build thier own playroom.. Some companies charge large for great stuff that you can find elsewhere, like Dog said..

Why spend 65.99 for a great whip, that at a local tack shop is in the 20 to 30 dollar range.. Personally we priced riding crops, and got one for less than 10.00 thru Ebay

If it works for your play, Who cares what you paid for it..
Some say man is just a beast in clothing, So what happens when we get naked? EVERYTHING

Better whips will mean more durability, which is nice -- having your toy break in the middle of play makes a sad panda. It also means different sensations; I won't say better, but every type of toy has a unique sensation. If you like what you got, I'd say buy a few spares and do the happy dance. There's no reason at all you have to use expensive stuff.

As already mentioned, if you're willing to shop around or consider assembling something on your own, there are a lot of ways to make cheap gear.
