Doubt

Sitting quietly watching
Silently hoping
Silently praying
Silently waiting and wishing and wanting

I look to my left
Here are my friends
Here are my supporters
Here are my brothers and sisters and lovers

I look to my right
Here are my loved ones
Here are my saviors
Here are my elders and wisers and guiders

I look straight ahead
There are my dreams
There are my hopes
There are my cares and loves and possibilities

I look behind me
There were my fears
There were my doubts
There were my roadblocks and hang-ups and worries

Sitting quietly watching
Silently observing
Silently looking
Silently thinking and planning and calculating

But when do I speak
When do I step
Which way to turn
Who do I follow and where and why

Closing my eyes
Take a deep breath
Feel the silence
Listen to my heart and head and nerves

Knowing the pain
Accepting the doubt
Knowing for now
I’ll stay here and go nowhere and do nothing
