I choose the goddess side of things.

But hearing the word 'slut', in that particular moment...definitely does nifty, naughty things to my head. And like bip0lar, it just pushes me a little deeper into submission. Which is a good thing, as that's exactly where I want to be.
Working too much....and unfortunately not online as much as I'd like.

Although to be sure they are quite close in meaning in that they do get sex for money. But adult entertainers hold themselves above prostitution. They wont do it unless its lucrative and theres a camera and they are looking there flat out best. They regularly use safe sex practices and are regularly tested. They play to the camera, they do reverse cowboys, they have awards and conferences, they take acting classes.
not neccasarily, i had friends who have a company producing (im assuming they still do i lost contact yrs ago) practically all aspects of ''adult entertainment'' from the phone lines, escorts, to videos pictures the whole shebang! they all practiced safesex without any exception, they had regular health check ups mostly the movie stars had originally began as escorts and phone work and those that hadnt had originally started out wanting to be models.

but i dont want to detract from the thread sorry!

For me the word 'slut' and any other words one might title 'dirty' are words that can be used between partners (be it vanilla or bdsm type partners or any other type out there).... and when they are used in this nature then these words are erotic between these people.

If a complete stranger in the street in real life called me a slut... i would NEVER accept it. I would never put up with it, because for me when it is being used in such a way then it is being used to offend and to degrade, in a non-erotic manner.

If my partner uses it on me - in the right context, then i know they do so with respect and with the knowledge that its use turns me on.

I guess thats what it comes down to - context for example If my boss at work called me a slut... then thats sexual harassment, but if my partner at home calls me a slut while we are doing something sexual then thats a turn on.....

First off let me express i LOVE when my master calls me a slut i too find it a term of endearment and makes me wet at the thought... however for a long time i searched for sexual pleasure man after man in vanilla sex... i could not find what i was looking for and i was hurting myself both mentally and physically ... it was not healthy in respects to myself... i judge know one if you can do that and be ok with it i applaud you ... however what i am getting at is i considered (and still cuz Master is helping me cleanse myself of it ...) myself as a true slut in respects of the negativity of the word... i feel when you are promiscuous but you are hurting yourself ... you can be a slut with the negative conotation... but this is a personal belief ... like i said i judge no one i would never say sumone was a slut but myself...

There's a big difference between a stranger calling you a slut and a close acquaintance.

"Slut" can have positive connotations, especially in a sexual context. A slut is a woman who knows her own sexuality and expresses it fully, without ever holding back. The slut is the female sexual animal, her desires released and unbound.

I think my definitions, or perhaps my reactions, are much different than the majority.

To most of the world, i think, is not just someone who is promiscuous, but also someone who really wants to be, rather like a more negative version of "nympho". And I think i fit that, no ifs ands or buts about it.

So, i have one friend, i posted about his domlyness in a different thread, who calls me a slut, and I feel... accepted, and when my J does it, I want to drop on my knees at his feet, or melt into a puddle, like most of the subs have said

When other people do it, i'm just like, "yea? whats your point?" They usually have a reason for saying it, so I see no reason to argue. Same goes for the word "bitch". I am, so be it.

What actually offends me for the use of "slut" or "bitch" is when Doms do it. Because it is special, as others said. I am J's slut, not the slut of any dom that wants to talk to me. They know what it means, just like single guys in bars know what "sweetheart" and "honey" mean.

So for me, slut is a perfectly acceptable word, unless you are using it to (knowingly) trespass on J's "territory"

Cunt, on the other hand... bother me. For the reasons everyone else gave for "slut." Or maybe because it is my favorite insult for a few choice evil women in my life...

I have yet to read a better line of reasoning that what you've just stated!
Now as others, if you would've asked me that a few years ago, you would've gotten a wholly different answer. But here goes: What you do in your own life, is exactly that, your own life. No-one has the right to judge you, for what you do, or don't do. I get so tired of people judging other people ( like they don't have things in thier lives that they may or may not be proud of or that is different than anyone else's lives ) that it makes me sick!

i have never viewed the word 'slut' as a bad word, even before i became involved with a Dom...He taught me that there was a whole 'slut system'...for example, in His world, according to Him, there were 'pain sluts' (girls who really wanted pain and nothing else), 'cum sluts', whose focus was eating cum, 'bondage sluts', who of course liked to be tied up, etc., even though they may have enjoyed/engaged in other activities.

of course, in the throes of sexual excitement or subbie space, that word is thrilling and pushes you further, and even when i am not playing, i never mind being called 'slut'.

i was never called 'whore' and don't think i would like it if i were, because whores are very mercenary and deliberate and don't get any pleasure out of serving men. (although maybe 'cockwhore' would be ok). sometimes i like 'little bitch' as in 'you're my good little bitch, aren't you' although i like 'slut' best, and do not see it as degrading or demeaning. i don't like the word 'cunt' too much, especially being called that (which i have never been called either).

I suppose I'm one of the more conservative types in this way. I HATE being called a slut (or whore, or any other version of that insult). I'm very literal when it comes to the English language, so the moment I hear that word I automatically think of promiscuity. However, I would and have accepted it in a BDSM setting. In fact, I was just reading another thread on the forum about humiliation for females. For me, accepting being called a slut is humiliating in its own right. I think it's a matter of pride and how I feel about myself. I pulled myself back from my low self-esteem years ago and won't let myself go down that road again- which is why it's reserved for special uses only. I like who I am and know, without a doubt, that I don't fit the "definition" of the word.

    meanig, slut

In the old days a slut was someone who jumped from bed to bed for no real reason other that sex with no emotional attachment. In this life style it appears to me the word slut is used more along the lines of a term of ENDEARMENT, not as an insult. It appears there is great respect for the other person here which is one reason I like this site. I have a hard time understanding how one can insult another, or feel insulting as long as you are doing what both persons desire and are doing it with mutual respect.

I agree, it's not an insult if neither party sees it as such. However, just because one person wants to say it doesn't mean the other person wants to hear it- different strokes and what not.

For me, my master calling me his little slut, whore, etc is a positive thing, and shows he is getting pleasure from using me - to me it means that I am degrading myself for him, or allowing him to control and manipulate me; it can have very deep and intimate meaning when used between master and slave, dom and sub, etc

On the other hand, if anybody else called me a slut, or I was called a slut in a non-sexual situation, that is certainly an insult. Slut in that context implies low self esteem, absence of any moral code and promiscuity with little or no regard for personal emotional or physical wellbeing

I take issue with the fact that so many ignorant people automatically read BDSM as 'sleeps around with hundreds of people', and anyone involved in BDSM must therefore automatically be a slut; In fact I am in a loving monogamous relationship - the only difference from a 'normal' (god I hate that word...) relationship lies in the way we choose to express our sexual urges.

Gosh what a rant, sorry about that *breathes*

I wouldn't call myself a slut even though I think I have every right for every experience that doesn't offend the rights of others.
But I like to be called "slut" by men if it means that they accept me as someone to fulfill there dirtiest fantasies.

I love to be called a slut. However, as some of the responses above, I would be absolutely horrified if anyone other than my Master called me this. Slut is used as a kind of derogatory slang word for a person who is very free with her sexual favours on a regular basis with many differing partners (which I might add I am not)!! (Master joked once and called me his 'Martini slut') i.e. anytime anyplace anywhere, which for him is true - lol - but in my 'Vanilla' life I am VERY far from that type of person.

I suppose it all depends on what context and tone the word is used in when reffering to me.

It can be vile and not fun.

    It can also be exciting.

Use of words change. I would call what you describe nymphomaniac.

At its worst, you cannot function normally and no matter how often you get off, the lust comes back immediately or after minutes. 24 hours a day.

I saw a program about this - quite scary!

Personally I agree most with DawnOwl. To me, a slut (when you're referred to as such in a Dom/sub setting - on this board, there's really no point discussing what 'slut' means when it's not in this sort of setting, is there?) is someone who just can't stop thinking about sex and being used for sex, regardless of where he/she is, the time of day, and whether the Dom is present or not. Sluts could turn even the most innocent of everyday situations (like passing by a big strong man, being scolded by the boss, being patted on the arm by a co-worker, etc.) into a sexual/humiliating one in their heads. They also respond to readily sexual situations (like when their Dom tells them to do something) with enthusiasm and sometimes by doing more than they're expected to, and when their Doms say "good little slut", they revel in the feeling of pride+depravity it gives them.

Well, that's my take on it, anyway. Feel free to disagree.. :P

As I use the term, it's not about being permanently horny (which, as thir pointed out, can be a horrible disability), but about being highly responsive. When I have my pet warmed up till she starts to beg with her hips, and squirms against me without needing to be told, then I say "that's my slut!"

In compounds it indicates someone who can't get enough of the thing in question, as in painslut, cumslut etc.

A slut is nothing tangible, therefor exists only in the mind, both of an eventual beholder, or the one that is beheld.
