COMMENTS: Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago and there was prosperity, absolutely no national debt, the largest middle class in the world and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

Actually taxes existed in Medievil England, a peasant having to pay tax (or rent) for his land to the local Lord as well as taxes to the church called a "Tithe" (about 10% of the value of everything the peasant had farmed). There were also taxes on the produce produced on the land the peasant owned.

I didn't write this but the statement said that none of the "above mentioned" taxes existed, not that were no taxes at all.
