Well I'd have to say I'm with Widget- unless 'curiousgrl' owns the pics & is the person in them as he/she claims I think they should be removed.

Just because 'technically' no rules have been broken doesn't make it OK to con people, if that's what's going on.

Otherwise we're just as guilty as the perpetrator, to my mind- I thought we were trying to show a somewhat realistic view of our kink.

As for "Most of what we present of ourselves online is a fiction" - well I would hope that isn't the case.

In my view what makes this site a great place to be is the attitude of the majority of the people on here and losing that sense of friendly acceptance would be a major reason for me never logging in again.

We all have to accept that not everyone who finds there way to the site is going to be totally genuine or have taken the time to get to know what the site is about before leaping in to progress their own agenda.

I recently became very concerned over what I saw to be a clear set of pictures that were fabricated and I took advice from others I trust before deciding that there was really nothing to be gained from trying to expose the poster. We all have a duty though to be discerning as well as welcoming and on threads where there is any doubt I think it is important that we do not give those threads credibility by posting (hypocritical eh? as I am posting here).

As for the discussion about avatars. "An avatar is most commonly used in web forums / chat rooms and is a graphic illustration that you choose to display." There were never intended to be pictures of us. Indeed in their original context they were the forms gods took on so they could walk amongst the people, usually to exact some kind of revenge or wage war on their enemies. So no one is being dishonest by posting a picture that is not of themselves. Indeed those who post pictures of themselves I think are being very open and trusting.

It just seems a shame that so much time has been taken up on this thread when we could all have been having fun on other topics.

Oh well, we live and learn.
