Yeah, mine's a long term thing too. My mother said when I was a baby, I started sleeping through the night when I was really young. But since I was about 8 years old, I have never slept through the night, until recently.
Nightmares were one of my biggest problems too. I finally got so desperate, that I went to see a - a - I don't know the right term for him. A shaman is as close as I can come. He taught me how to do a thing called 'lucid dreaming'. It has put me in complete control of my dreams; I can make anything happen any way I want it to. If I 'feel' a dream going bad, I can turn it onto a different path. It's an amazing gift that I am very thankful for.
About 2 years ago, I underwent a 'sleep disorder' test; where I had to stay in a special lab overnight, hooked up to things that measured stuff like my breathing, my REM sleep, my eye movements; wires everywhere! It was very revealing; they figured I got about 1 hour of sleep out of the 8 hours I was there.
So, now I'm medicated, and I sleep just fine, thank you!
How long have you been doing the night thing? I don't know how you can stay awake, I'd be asleep half the time - or bored to death!
