    Here to help! *horns play*

    I don't know how many IT people we have here, but in order to increase my experiance and knowledge I'd be happy to help anyone with any computer related problems they have.

    I'm currently and IT student in college, with many years of personal pc experiance. My ability ranges from building/repairing/pimping to hardware and software(especially operating systems) troubleshooting and networking.

    Definatly you'd be more likely to get my immediate support if you PM me and I'll try to keep an eye on this topic from now on. Like I said, I'd be happy to help, and I'm pretty good with computers and a great thing about me is a teach and explain what the problem/solution is, in order to help the user learn themselves. If I cannot help with the problem I'd definatly be able to direct someone to the sources to find the solutions.

    Happy computing!

    I am looking at doing an internet DJ thing as a hobby... and I am having issues connecting with the shoutcast server (sc3.spacialnet.com:16950). I did a node check, and 3 of the 18 nodes between me and the server there was no response. How do I fix it, if I can?

    Ok, using the link you provided I found a speed test. I did that... got some results, but not what I got from doing a trace check. All it told me was my speed from a - b. Not if I was loosing data, which would impact the quality of sound I could produce.

    Using Neo Trace, it broke down each node, and packets sent and received. 3 of the 18 nodes there was 3 nodes that didn't respond.

    Say for instance I go to the command prompt window (old DOS) and type "ping www.bdsmlibrary.com" it will send back something like;

    pinging bdsmlbrary.com [67.159.5.224] with 32 bytes of data:

    reply from 67.159.5.224: bytes=32 time=235ms TTL=51
    reply from 67.159.5.224: bytes=32 time=217ms TTL=51
    reply from 67.159.5.224: bytes=32 time=241ms TTL=51
    reply from 67.159.5.224: bytes=32 time=249ms TTL=51

    Ping statistics for 67.159.224:
    Packets sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0 <0% loss>,
    Apporoximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 217, Maximum = 249ms, average = 235ms

    So when I do the node check with Neo Trace, it shows what nodes loose what packets. I want to know if I can choose different nodes, or if I am just stuck.

    I think the only way you could actually change that would to get a new IP, and to do that you'd probably have to contact your ISP or change ISPs.

    Ok, so I narrowed down the suspect server, and its one in Germany. So there is only one provider for this, and that means leave the country. Doing that next month.

    Thanks for the help though!
