Lisa heard the phone ring in the distance as she groaned under Brian’s determined touch. She met his eyes and he chuckled. She thought she heard a single heal click then nothing. Three rings and it stopped. She suddenly felt even more vulnerable. She just couldn’t let her body continue to betray her.

Renee picked up the phone but no one was there. She shrugged and hurried to get the office ready. Mr. Randle hated it when anything was misplaced, she smiled and touched the pocket with his special keys. She frowned remembering Kiel’s heavy handed acquisition of them for an hour two weeks ago. Renee stopped as she opened the heavy drapes and looked out over the perfect lawn and gardens. She frowned remembering Kiel as he stood so tall and bulky over her. “If you don’t let me have the keys I’ll send a short note to Mrs. Simmons mentioning a certain maid in her husband’s bed.” He’d shifted just slightly so she felt him against her body. “It will only be for an hour Renee. I’ll bring them back before he can even miss them.” He’d smiled just like a shark for a moment, “It’s not like you have a choice Renee.” She knew he just hated her having any slight position above him.

She shook her head and turned, “My gawd, what’s….”

Kiel heard the gasp and strode into Mr. Randle’s office. “My gawd woman what happened,” he growled.

“I didn’t…”

He leaned over lifting the desk from it’s side. “Of course you didn’t,” he looked over the trashed room. “But we better get it back in order or there will be hell to pay. I’ll help you. Let me know if anything important is missing.”

Kiel set the last book back in the book case and watched as Renee opened the safe under the delicate Queen Anne chair in the corner. “Any thing yet?” he asked walking toward her slowly.

“A couple of files but nothing important, everything imperative’s still safe.” Kiel looked down in the safe as she started to shut it. “No not in here, the important stuff was in the bookcase vault.”

“Good, I don’t want…” A loud thud upstairs resounded through the room.

“What was that Kiel, I thought I heard something earlier.”

“Mr. Randle, maybe, but his car’s gone. I’ll go check.”

“You’re not leaving me alone down here Kiel.” She dropped the keys into her pocket and stood.
