If you have ever typed or said "I'm a Dominate", you may be a wannabe.

(you may also need to brush up on the difference between verbs, adjectives and nouns, but i am a grammar snob.)

    Thank you, rose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am so glad someone else out there feels this way too!!
That is the first thing i pick out (well, used to pick out) of the profiles of Masters/ Mistresses who emailed me.... can't put a coherent sentence together? Complete deal-breaker for me.... anyway... thanks again!!
Think i'm done gunnin' to get closer to some imagined bliss
Gotta knuckledown and be okay with this.
...and I know that I was warned... still it was not what I had hoped...
...'course that starstruck girl is already someone i miss...
    -ani d. "Knuckledown"

Eponine's story - that's mine! I invite and appreciate all variety of commentary!

i sometimes want to tell them they should find themselves a very nice "submit".

i am the grammer nazi, after all. The dreaded "how r u?" will also turn me cold in a flash.

Ok...at risk of upsetting people (especially as a newbie) I worry about threads like this. Whilst the initial posts were intended to raise a smile I wonder whether this perpetuates a snobbery that "wannabees" come up against whenever they are making a genuine attempt to enter the scene.

I don’t want to seem like im attacking anyone, but it’s hard enough for people to find a reliable environment to learn and share their thoughts without feeling as though they may be mocked. Sure, some are playing a game and need to be mocked, but others are simply missing the knowledge and experience to enable them to relate to other wannabees and experienced alike

    Again, this isn’t an attack...just a concern.

There is a world of difference between a new person and a wannabe. In this sense, we use "wannabe" as someone who puts themselves forth as someone who already is, does not admit their lack of experience.

It is the dishonesty that is looked down upon, not the lack of experience.

Thank you for your response...and I agree wholeheartedly with your definition between the two.

I worry simply because the issue of finding an appropriate first base or outlet, whether online or irl, can be daunting and I have lost two good friends because of another boards "closed" nature.

That said, the atmosphere here is far more inviting...*feels drawn in already*

Sorry for hijacking the thread a little.

Oh, and thats a lovely rose...wheres the thorns?
