In all honesty, I don't know how effective they are, but when I read this post I was reminded of when I was a young'n working in a pharmacy and a gentleman came in asking for "Stud 2000 cream". i'm sure when anyone does, they'll be sure to let you know. Although, if it's something to cause 'agony' you're looking for, you could always try ralgex or some other deep heat type cream/stick. Believe me, it hurts. A lot.
