Yes, if you're into torture you've gotta love those Romans. One of the emperors apparently had a giant metal pig made with only one aperture at it's mouth. A prisoner would be shoved in and presumably some sort of bars were closed. Then they lit a fire under the pigs belly and listened to the sounds coming out of it.
