I'm a bit remiss at sending this in. I'm a male Dom who has been active in the lifestyle since my early teens. I am now in my late fifties, so have seen the lifestyle somewhat come out into the light of day as knowledge, especially personal knowledge, has changed perceptions. My participation has been at various stages of activity, but my interest has been constant. I began as something of a switch, but have settle down to a Dom role for some time.
MY ancestors, on my father's side, arrived in Canada with Brave Wolfe and evidently did something semi-heroic because they were granted a large land grant on the shores of the St. Lawrence. In the 1870's they evidently lost it in a poker game, or were exiled screaming "please! I promise I won't do it again!" They moved to Arkansas, USA, and eventually to California (thank God). My mother's side arrived after the Restoration to the colony of Virginia. One of these ancestors signed the death warrant of Charles I. Since they were Roundhead English, and the other side Irish Catholics, perhaps they met earlier and fought and raped each other. That could explain a lot, lol. I, too, feel a great affinity to Canada, for obvious reason.
I love the international flair of this forum. I was born and am currently living in Kentucky, USA (the only state whose abreviation, KY, has sexual overtones). I have lived in LA, Manhattan, Chicago, as well as several other places. I have intense interests in history, movies, cooking, aviation, ships, railroading, erotic art, graphics (flags, coats of arms, insignias). I would suggest just read the threads you are interested in and if you have anything to say just post your two penneth worth. people who post on this site are a pretty friendly bunch. If you want to ask someone specific a question just send them a private message. Just aget a feel for the site and join in. No one will bite your head off. The rules are pretty basic, if you just treat people like you want to be treated you won't go far wrong.

Have sent a little message to Projecteuropa, and I'm sort of getting the hang of this although my hands are shaking.

Would you believe that I never heard of BDSM till about three weeks ago when it popped up on TV.

It’s understandable to at first not be sure about things and even nervous. For instance I use to always be controlling and rather dominate as a Leo but I never realized how great it was, always felt like I was missing an aspect of my life that I could not name. At times I’d see on TV or movies if not read in books how someone was taken, dominated completely and I always loved it but I thought it was just a bit of stimulation. A few times I even wondered if that was right to think as such. It was not until I really looked at the situation I began to understand and it was not until I started to act on my desires and whims that I felt “free”. Since then I have become completely confident in how I’am, how I do things and the fact I can give another so much pleasure and arousal by my actions is a welcoming thought.

Ehhh.. I'll just agree with what everyone else has said. I can sort of relate, as I'd never really spoken about my 'inner thoughts and desires' to anyone apart from my Dom (online only for now sadly), so posting in here was quite a big step for me. Yes I would believe that. While I had heard the term BDSM many times it was only coming to this site that helped me to find out what I was and to be happy with how I am. I am sure you will do the same.

One word of advice though - dont rush it. Just take it as it comes and try to understand what your real feelings are. At first, the heady mix of realisation and freedom can be so intoxicating that you may find you are acting like a kid in a sweet shop. Although THAT can be fun too, it is usually better to take the scenic route and enjoy the journey rather than madly rushing along the motorway.
